Tractebel Inc.’s (Canada) team is growing, and we are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer who brings a strong civil engineering expertise from projects such as nuclear power generation, hydropower, transportation and electricity transmission and distribution. The role is based in Markham with a plan to relocate to downtown Toronto.

Key Responsibilities:
- You will oversee the design and calculations of nuclear related structures and building subjected to internal and external hazards
- You anticipate problems and project needs regarding civil engineering
- You’ll provide technical oversight of reinforcement detailers and review detailing models and drawings
- You’ll provide expert oversight and technical direction to teams completing the design of reinforced concrete structures
- You perform structural analyses using FEM code
- You participate actively in the dynamic analysis of nuclear structures and components to various hazards: earthquake, gas explosion, tornado, plane crash accident, high wave impact
- You will participate in the writing of technical specifications (design requirements) and the review of technical documents issued by the Contractor
- You lead, mentor, coach and train less experienced staff
- You check calculation notes of less experienced engineers according to the QA policy of the company
- You conduct technical meetings in front of peers, partners, clients or suppliers
- You maintain effective working relationships with the European and Canada teams to ensure smooth, efficient running of activities within Tractebel Inc.
- You will work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client’s requirements
- You will develop a full understanding of, and align with, Tractebel governance and standard working practices, strategies & objectives
- You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver competitive and compliant proposals
- You will align with TRACTEBEL’s governance, strategies, and standard practices
What You’ll Bring
- You possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- You have a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience as a civil engineer in an engineering consultancy (EPC) environment
- You are licensed (and in good standing) to practice as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
- You have experience working in a highly regulated industry based in Canada
- You are Fluent in English. Knowledge of other languages (especially French) is welcome
- You have engineering knowledge in civil engineering associated with industrial or power civil projects, including geotechnical analysis, design, finite element method, and reinforced concrete calculation and design
- You are self-driven and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a multi-disciplinary environment within a multicultural team
- You have demonstrated ability in planning and conducting civil studies, performing engineering designs and evaluations, and other civil works associated with power generating or industrial facilities
- You have demonstrated knowledge of the applicable legislation, standards industry practices, software, and modelling tools related to the fields of engineering, construction and nuclear or hydro facility design
- You have knowledge of nuclear or hydro domain and safety
- You have the ability to independently problem solve with methods and tools required for Civil Engineering applications
- You have excellent document preparation skills with the ability to review and produce quality deliverables
- You have the ability to support the development of engineering teams
- You have excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
Additional Details
- This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
- Must be available to travel occasionally to other Tractebel locations, client sites, and key industry events
- You must be flexible in your daily schedule
- Must possess a valid driver’s license/clean driving record
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- This position consists of 20% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
- Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
- Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
- Could involve some lifting
Compensation
Salary Range: $145,200.00 – $ 222,525.00 CAD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
