Trainee Production Planner

Are you ready to launch your career in engineering and planning? We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Trainee Production Planner.
This is a fantastic opportunity to grow into a key role that supports the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of our power stations.
As a Trainee Production Planner, you’ll work closely with experienced planners and engineers to
- Overall long and short term work planning responsibility for Dinorwig and/or Ffestiniog Power Stations; ensuring minimal effect on the desired plant availability, by effectively and efficiently utilising manpower and other resources
- Support the transition to SAP as our new ERP tool
- Coordinate daily work activities with cross-functional teams
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001)
- Assist in contract management and procurement processes
- Build your knowledge to become a Technical Officer under PUWER and LOLER
This is a developmental role designed to help you grow into a Production Planner.
Knowledge & Skills
- Technical knowledge relating to plant maintenance work in a heavy engineering environment
- A comprehensive understanding of manpower planning
- Understanding of, power plant operations, engineering and maintenance
- Knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety legislation and its impact on day to day operations
- Strong understanding of QEH&S management systems
- Carry out Risk Assessments and method statements for a variety of work
- Excellent IT skills and knowledge, including Maintenance Management Systems and MS Project
- The ability to work flexibly and react to unforeseen issues
Desirable Experience
- Planning and Scheduling of work in a heavy engineering environment
- Experience of applying the above knowledge and skills.
- Proven Leadership Skills
- Working in an industrial environment
Qualifications
Essential:
- BTEC National Certificate / City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 in a relevant craft discipline
- Completion of a recognised apprenticeship
Desirable:
- HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
- Experience in planning/scheduling in a heavy engineering or industrial environment
- Leadership potential and a proactive mindset
