At ENGIE, we are accelerating the energy transition by harnessing the power of some of the UK's most remarkable infrastructure. Our First Hydro sites in Wales are nationally important assets with a proud heritage and a vital role in Britain's energy future.
We are looking for a Communications Lead to connect our people to our purpose. You will shape how colleagues across First Hydro understand their contribution to ENGIE's strategy, while celebrating the unique culture of our Welsh operations. This is your opportunity to make complex work feel clear, meaningful, and human.
What You'll Do

- Own the First Hydro communications calendar, coordinating with ENGIE UK activities to ensure consistent messaging.
- Create high-quality content across multiple channels including intranet, briefings, newsletters, digital screens, and events.
- Partner with site leadership to support key announcements, change programmes, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Act as the communications interface between First Hydro and ENGIE UK, championing local successes within the wider organisation.
- Ensure communications reach and resonate with remote and shift-based colleagues through accessible formats and feedback loops.
- Support crisis communications and business continuity messaging when required.
What You Bring
- Proven experience delivering internal communications in an operational, industrial, or complex environment.
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to translate technical information into clear, engaging content.
- Experience managing communications across multiple channels and formats simultaneously.
- Track record of advising leaders on messaging, briefings, and engagement activity.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
- Confidence building relationships across site-based teams and corporate functions in a matrixed organisation.
- Welsh language capability is desirable, supporting engagement with colleagues and local communities.
Location
This is an on-site role based at First Hydro's operations in North Wales. You will work across our sites, embedded within the teams you support, with regular connection to ENGIE UK colleagues.
What We Offer
- A competitive salary with clear career development pathways within ENGIE's global organisation.
- A diverse and stimulating role that blends strategic communications with creative, hands-on delivery.
- The chance to work on nationally significant energy infrastructure during a transformative period, including the Dinorwig and Ffestiniog replanting programmes.
- A friendly, collaborative work environment rooted in operational pride and team spirit.
- Flexibility within an on-site role, with support for work-life balance and wellbeing.
- Opportunities to grow your network across ENGIE UK and internationally.

Why join?
- First Hydro operates some of the UK’s most distinctive and nationally important energy infrastructure. You will play a key role in strengthening how we communicate, helping our colleagues to understand their contribution to ENGIE’s wider strategy, while protecting the unique culture and identity of our sites.
