About the team

Laborelec’s Solar Team, part of the Renewables & Urban Department, is leading the solar PV research and innovation roadmap for ENGIE and performs technical expertise services for the ENGIE Group and external clients. Consisting of a multidisciplinary team of experts, including PV system yield simulation experts, PV equipment experts (trackers, inverters) operational performance experts (soiling impact, monitoring) and data scientists, the team has 3 missions:

1.     Anticipate and test new solar technologies (such as Agri-PV and floating offshore PV) through tests in the Lab and large-scale pilot installations, including our testing facilities in northern Chile.

2.     Support ENGIE with technical insights for the development of new solar projects through written technical specifications and guidelines for ENGIE’s multi-GW PV fleet.

3.     Develop solar PV fleet-scale monitoring tools and digital solutions for improving operations.

These projects are often multidisciplinary, combining solar, renewable energy technologies, power network studies & measurements, cyber security, IT solutions, etc. and are therefore executed in strong interaction and collaboration with multiple teams within Laborelec.
