Welcome to ENGIE Laborelec ! Every day, we work together to develop efficient energy solutions to build a carbon-neutral future!

We are currently looking for an Non-destructive Testing Expert (F/M/X) to join our team at Laborelec in Linkebeek, Brussels suburbs, Belgium.

About Us

The Non-Destructive Testing team at ENGIE Laborelec plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and safety of components in nuclear and conventional thermal power plants. Their work focuses on early detection and monitoring of damage phenomena using advanced inspection techniques

You’ll be joining a dynamic team of 14 professionals, each bringing unique expertise and passion for sustainable energy

Your Role

In this role, you will participate in projects relating to Belgian nuclear power plants, and national and international assignments for conventional power plants or renewable energy parks

You will coordinate (both technically and organizationally) the tasks assigned to you. In many cases, you will manage and carry out inspections independently. You will also deal with customers: developing a task's scope, preparing an offer, and maintaining close contact while the service is being performed and afterwards

You will help designing and developing solutions to our customers' problems and will keep abreast of new developments in the field. You will carry out projects assigned to the team, whether theoretical (studies) or practical (laboratory or on site)

As a Non-Destructive Testing Expert, you’ll:

  • Lead and coordinate inspection projects for nuclear and conventional power plants.
  • Monitor third-party NDT quality control and develop niche inspection techniques.
  • Research and apply advanced methods like hyperspectral imaging, thermography, and radar.
  • Collaborate with clients to define scopes, prepare offers, and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Contribute to root cause analyses and stay ahead of industry developments
  • Write structured reports is a core part of the role, enabling clear communication of technical analyses and recommendations

Your profile as a Non-Destructive Testing Expert (M/F/X):

  • An engineering degree and 5+ years of relevant Non-Destructive Testing experience.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Fluency in English and a willingness to learn French and Dutch.
  • Willingness to travel (frequent site visits in Belgium, occasional international trips).
  • A collaborative mindset and creative problem-solving approach.
  • An ISO9712 Level 2 or 3 in ultrasonic (phased array) and eddy current testing certification.
  • Experience with nuclear regulations, ASME standards, PWRs, or composite/concrete materials is a plus.

To obtain a nuclear habilitation, you must have one of the following nationalities (as set by local regulations): Belgian, French, German, Dutch, Luxembourgish, Cypriot, Spanish, Finnish, Hungarian, Italian, Swedish, Canadian

Location

The position is based in Linkebeek (about 10 km from Brussels), which is our main lab-site. However, depending on project requirements, occasional travel or short-term assignments at other international locations may be part of the role.

Our recruitment process

There are essentially two steps in the selection process: an HR interview combined with a personality test, an interview with the Hiring Manager and the Delivery Manager.

 What We Offer

  • A Competitive salary package with a healthy work-life balance (34 leave days and a hybrid workspace home and office, up to 3 days of home working per week, if applicable).
  • Learning & Development opportunities: including training, coaching, mentorship programs, and workshops.
  • An inspiring and green work environment shared with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • A caring, inclusive organization committed to well-being, where you can be yourself.
  • Employee Resource Groups: A unique opportunity within a prominent research and expertise centre, with room for career growth across the ENGIE Group.
