For EMS we are currently looking for a Junior Maintenance Engineer. EMS (European Maintenance Support) is part of the ENGIE Group that executes specialized maintenance activities in different power plants in Europe (mainly Belgium, the Netherlands and France). We execute and lead major overhauls where we revise the critical components (turbines, generators, boilers, pumps, fans, …) of a power plant and determine the maintenance strategy for the future.


Inside the Boiler & Balance of Plant Engineering team, we are currently looking for a Junior Maintenance Engineer willing to build up knowhow in the process of power generation and be focused on Boiler Technology. Do you want to grow your knowledge in order to become an expert and reference in the field? Then you are the Junior Maintenance Engineer (M/F/X) we are looking for.

YOUR MISSION as Junior Maintenance Engineer (M/F/X):


  • You get the chance to build up knowhow, develop and maintain expertise in the maintenance of key-equipment in power plants (Heat Recovery Steam Generators, Pumps, Valves, …). The primary focus will be on Boiler Technology.
  • In order to become an expert in this domain you will:
    • Collaborate in defining the scope, preparation, execution and consolidation of outage maintenance projects.
    • Ensure the day-to-day technical support of our operational maintenance teams. Yes, you will visit power plants yourself!
    • Carry out fact finding and condition assessments in the field.
    • Conduct Root-Cause Analyses and define corrective and preventive actions in case of incidents or non-conformities observed during overhauls.
    • Develop long-term inspection and maintenance strategies for the relevant equipment and update them according findings.
    • Initiate, realize or participate in improvement and replacement projects based on technical-economic analysis.
  • As an expert you will collaborate with multiple stakeholders as you will be supporting both internal clients (ENGIE) and external clients (industrial companies).
  • You further develop and consolidate your knowhow by sharing knowledge, coaching others and determining adequate training modules for the department. You participate to internal and external network events.


YOUR PROFILE as Junior Maintenance Engineer (M/F/X):


  • You hold a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent by experience. You have a proven interest in the classical production of energy: Combined Cycle Power Plants.
  • You are particularly interested in degradation mechanisms, welding technology, materials technology, non-destructive inspection techniques.
  • You have strong analytical and reporting skills, you are a problem solver and eager to further expand your knowledge in order to become a reference in this domain.
  • You are a team player and like interaction with various stakeholders; EMS colleagues, power plant staff, service provider personnel, insurers, etc. and thus are able to collaborate with different types of people: both technicians and engineers.
  • You are a good communicator and  have a professional knowledge of English, additionally you are able to either speak Dutch or French on professional level.
  • You are mobile and flexible: you are willing to travel to all ENGIE sites: from Herdersbrug, to Zandvliet, to Saint-Ghislain (depending on the location of your projects). Additionally, you are willing to spend up to max 30% of working time abroad.
  • You have a strong safety and environmental awareness. You always take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues!

Daily workplace: Varies: at home, on the office in Linkebeek or at ENGIE's various power plants (thermal, hydro). Depending on the projects attributed to you, you will move. We guarantee you there are interesting engineering stuff happening.
