ENGIE Laborelec

ENGIE Laborelec is a research and expertise center focused on electrical power technology, with a team of over 335 employees from different background. We are part of the ENGIE Group, and more particular the newly created entity called ENGIE Research & Innovation. We support the entire electricity value chain, providing customized solutions to a diverse range of customers from various fields and industries. We are dedicated to achieving a net zero carbon future and finding sustainable solutions.

Business Line Renewables & Urban

The Renewables & Urban (R&U) Business Line of Laborelec provides business-focused research and expertise services to energy operators worldwide in the fields of solar, wind, hybrid and flexible assets, future home and collectivities, e-Mobility, lighting and energy storage. Each of these activities (delivery domains) is under the responsibility of a Delivery Lead. Within each delivery domain, project managers and experts lead projects which include:

  • Business-focused R&D projects for ENGIE Research & Innovation, like desktop or feasibility studies, technology evaluations, laboratory tests, pilot project realization, measurement campaigns, site inspections, monitoring campaigns, etc.
  • Technical consulting services for operational ENGIE entities and third clients. Examples are interventions to improve the performance of a renewable asset, implementing operational excellence strategies using digital tools, on-site inspections, on-site measurement campaigns and installation of hardware solutions

We strongly believe that R&D and operational assistance to operators are mutually enriching. The support we provide to operators gives us a clear and pragmatic idea of their day-to-day problems, and this helps us steer our R&D projects to meet their real concerns. On the other hand, our R&D allows us to stay abreast of technological developments, which is directly benefitting the support we offer our customers.

Due to this unique combination, Laborelec has a mandate to define the Research and Innovation roadmap on a variety of energy technologies for ENGIE, a leader in the energy transition with impact on a global scale.

People Department within the Business Line Renewables & Urban

All employees in the Renewable & Urban business line (except for the Sales team) are part of a Cluster. There are 3 Clusters in our business line:

  • Young Potentials
  • Expertise
  • Project and Program Managers

Each Cluster is under the responsibility of a Cluster Manager who acts as a coach for the employees in the cluster. The Cluster Manager manages the capabilities (functional and/or technical) and well-being of all members of the Cluster, serving the realization of Laborelec’s business strategy.

In particular, employees in the Young Potentials Cluster have joined Laborelec with no to typically less than 3 years of professional experience. Young Potentials require a specific coaching in their day-to-day work as both the environment (energy sector and more specifically the R&D sector) and the type of work (expertise services and R&D projects in a multi-disciplinary environment) are new to them.

As part of the People organization of the BL, the cluster manager Young Potentials will also contribute to manage and be the SPOC for external workforces, students and consultants providing specific expertise to our projects.

To support our growth, we are looking for a Cluster Manager Young Potentials within the People Department of the Business Line Renewables & Urban. You are part of a small team of Cluster Managers of the Business Line and report to the Head of People of the Business Line.

  • You manage People Well-Being and foster the use of feedback tools to be able to timely act. You deal with absenteeism (short term and long term) issues, psychosocial issues and conflicts arising for people within your cluster with the support of the HR Team.
  • You execute the Performance Management (PeMa) process with each employee within your cluster: goals setting – mid-year review – end-year evaluation and scoring. To this end, you frequently request feedback and input from Project & Program Managers, Delivery Leads and members of the Sales team (in particular to evaluate client satisfaction) and also provide input to concretize promotions or other steps in the career journey.
  • You deal with low performance and other performance issues within your cluster with support of the HR Team and according to Laborelec procedures.
