Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer

Location: Leeds, UK

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer is responsible for defining and leading the overall marketing, brand, product, and commercial strategy to support sustainable growth within the UK B2B energy supply market. The role sets the long‑term market vision, shapes the value proposition, drives demand generation, and aligns cross‑functional teams to elevate the organisation’s commercial positioning, customer understanding, and strategic direction.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Define and lead the overall marketing strategy aligned to business objectives.

• Shape value propositions and long‑term market vision.

• Own lead‑generation strategy, channels, and performance.

• Oversee campaign planning, execution and optimisation across digital and traditional channels.

• Partner with the Chief Sales Officer to align pipeline targets and conversion performance.

• Drive market intelligence, competitive analysis and customer insight.

• Oversee internal and external communications, PR, and corporate narrative, including crisis management, working closely with the Country Communications Team.

• Collaborate with operations, commercial and pricing teams to shape propositions and ensure effective go‑to‑market plans.

OUTCOME, RESULTS AND KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

• Growth in qualified pipeline and marketing‑sourced opportunities.

• Improved local brand visibility, recognition, and market differentiation.

• Strengthened customer segmentation, insights, and proposition relevance.

• Delivery of integrated marketing plans supporting EBIT and long‑term business goals.

• Enhanced engagement across internal and external communications.

DIMENSIONS OF JOB

• Leadership of Brand & Communications, Product Marketing, Digital Marketing, Market Intelligence, and Sales Enablement.

• Influence across UK B2B Supply and collaboration with global SEMs teams.

• Oversight of marketing budget, channel investment, and demand‑generation performance.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

• Daily collaboration with the UK Energy Supply Executive Team.

• Close partnership with Sales (CSO), Operations, Commercial, Pricing and Strategy teams.

• Regular engagement with external partners, agencies, and industry associations.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Deep understanding of B2B marketing, branding, segmentation, and value‑based messaging.

• Expertise in market intelligence, customer insight, and competitive analysis.

• Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking capabilities.

• Knowledge of the energy sector, decarbonisation solutions, and deregulated markets.

EXPERIENCE

• Extensive experience in B2B marketing, ideally within retail energy or energy services.

• Proven success driving market repositioning, growth, and commercial collaboration.

• Demonstrated capability in leading modern, data‑driven marketing and GTM strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Educated to degree level in Marketing, Business, or related field.
