About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Treasury Accountant to join our Financial Reporting team in Leeds. This role involves assisting with all aspects of treasury for the Energy Supply UK division, covering six legal entities. You will support the day-to-day operation of cash facilities, assist with bank reconciliations, and contribute to monthly and quarterly treasury reporting.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day operation of cash facilities, including producing accurate short and long-term working capital and free cash flow forecasts.
  • Support the bank reconciliation process, ensuring reconciling items are maintained, investigated, and resolved promptly.
  • Assist in optimizing finance costs and maintaining supplier security facilities.
  • Calculate interest payable on customer deposits and associated accruals.
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly treasury reporting and review cash flow utilization.
  • Maintain accurate records of suppliers and cash deposits.
  • Assist in balance sheet reconciliations for treasury-related accounts and ensure corrective actions are taken monthly.
  • Contribute to the annual budget and monthly re-forecast.
  • Support the Financial Reporting team in resolving outstanding cash items and assist the sales ledger administrator with daily cash flow forecasts.
  • Assist external auditors as requested and perform other ad-hoc treasury-related tasks and reporting.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Highly numerate with strong verbal reasoning skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Proven ability to produce accurate work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to report financial issues to a wide-ranging audience.
  • Confident interaction with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Awareness of treasury-related processes and techniques is desirable.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are desirable.

 

Qualifications

  • Degree level (or equivalent).
  • Part-qualified accountant from a recognized accountancy board is desirable.
