As the Group’s dedicated interface with weather markets, WES plays a strategic role. It also supports ENGIE’s financial performance through its weather risk outsourcing activities, which are becoming increasingly important in a global business environment more exposed to weather volatility, particularly with the growth of renewable energy generation.

Within WES, the mission of the Weather & Energy Quant Structurer is articulated across four core areas:

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the risk methodology framework (greeks exposure, VaR, stress tests).
  • Perform methodological monitoring (weather models, risk methodologies).
  • Ensure risk analytics are scalable, reliable, and fully industrialized within systems.

Structuring (Product Design, Pricing & Business Development Support)

Drive client value through the design, modeling and pricing of innovative and tailored hedging solutions.

  • Structure, price weather derivatives and hedging products in collaboration with traders and capacity providers.
  • Develop and enhance weather sensitivity models (temperature, wind, solar, hydro, etc.).
  • Contribute to new product development and structuring capabilities in support of business growth.

Activity Support & Business Development

Operational excellence, reporting, onboarding, and continuous improvement

  • Ensure day-to-day operational support of front-office activities.
  • Manage pre- and post-trade processes under traders’ supervision, including pricing client requests, onboarding (KYC, credit), and coordination with Credit, Legal, and Back Office teams.
  • Produce and communicate risk reports and hedge performance analyses to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Perform ongoing market monitoring (new weather products, market practices).
  • Participate in the onboarding of new capacity providers and products, supporting liquidity development.

Transversal

  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and transformation initiatives within weather risk management.
  • Drive continuous improvement of operational tools, processes, and frameworks.
