Context

The role is being opened in a context of transformation of the CEE operating model.

The objective is to support the progressive centralization of the management of CEE stocks and obligations within BP Market Access / Cluster RMS, in coordination with BP Clients and the relevant stakeholders across Front Office, Risk, Accounting, Back Office, IT and business teams.

This transformation raises several key finance and controlling challenges:

  • securing the economic and accounting representation of CEE positions;
  • organizing the transfer of obligations from commercial entities to Market Access;
  • clarifying the distinction between stock, obligation, transfers, inception, adjustments, destruction / stock-out;
  • ensuring the consistency between front-office view, accounting view and physical/register view;
  • defining and monitoring a robust valuation framework;
  • building reliable eco/accounting bridges and strengthening financial controls;
  • contributing to the target operating model and to the related IT/architecture roadmap.

This position is therefore at the crossroads of business controlling, middle-office finance, accounting coordination and process design.

Role

The role combines three dimensions:

1. Business Controller

You will contribute to the monthly closing, reporting, budget/forecast exercises and financial analysis on the Cluster RMS perimeter, with a dedicated focus on CEE activities.

2. Middle-Office / Economic P&L Controller

You will monitor the economic P&L generated by Front Office / Market Access activities, challenge the valuation and explain the variations observed.

3. Finance Process Owner for CEE Centralization

You will help design, formalize and secure the finance processes related to the centralization of CEE stock and obligations across BP Clients and BP Market Access.

Main responsibilities

  1. Support the centralization of CEE stock and obligation management
  • Contribute, as applicable, to the preparation and execution of Day 1 migration, including initial setup, data alignment and transition support.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of the target model for the centralized management of CEE obligations and stocks within Cluster RMS.
  • Help formalize the transfer process of obligations from commercial entities to Market Access.
  • Clarify and document the lifecycle of CEE positions, including:
    • inception / booking,
    • transfer between portfolios/books,
    • stock in,
    • stock out / destruction,
    • inventory adjustments,
    • end-of-period treatment.
  • Participate in defining the respective roles of BPs, SPM, Accounting, Risk, Back Office and IT.
  • Contribute to the governance and validation steps required to secure the target process.

B. Monitor economic P&L and valuation of CEE activities

  • Follow and validate the economic P&L related to CEE and associated environmental products / positions.
  • Analyze P&L movements and explain variations with Front Office and business teams.
  • Challenge the valuation methodology used for obligations and stock:
    • market price vs contractual price,
    • treatment of timing effects,
    • treatment of late adjustments and updates,
    • consistency with accounting principles.
  • Assess the impact of portfolio structure, transfers and booking choices on reported results.
  • Support the production of robust business reviews, dashboards and management analyses.
  • Contribute, where relevant, to P&L framing, initial calibration and reconciliation activities, notably in the context of new setups or migrations.

C. Secure accounting consistency and closing process

  • Contribute to the monthly closing for the Cluster RMS perimeter on CEE-related topics.
  • Review and challenge accounting entries linked to CEE stock, obligations and transfers.
  • Ensure consistency between:
    • economic P&L,
    • accounting P&L,
    • balance sheet positions.
  • Build and monitor eco/accounting bridges and investigate unexplained deltas.
  • Support the definition and validation of the relevant accounting schemes, notably for:
    • stock recognition,
    • obligation recognition,
    • transfer between portfolios / universes,
    • destruction / stock release,
    • netting / inventory adjustments.
  • Coordinate with accounting teams to ensure the proposed process is robust from an IFRS / local GAAP perspective.
  • Contribute to the definition and production of any required regulatory reporting related to CEE activities, if applicable.

D. Strengthen control framework and reconciliation

  • Help define a reliable control framework for CEE activities.
  • Contribute to the reconciliation between:
    • operational / tool positions,
    • accounting stock and obligations,
    • physical / registry positions.
  • Support the structuring of a triple reconciliation approach between tools, accounting and external registers.
  • Identify current weaknesses in stock reliability, accounting representation and break analysis.
  • Propose and implement controls to improve traceability, auditability and financial robustness.

E. Document flows, processes and target operating model

  • Produce or coordinate the production of clear process documentation and flow mappings.
  • Translate business discussions into finance-operating language usable by Accounting, Risk and IT teams.
  • Help formalize:
    • booking logic,
    • transfer events,
    • input/output data,
    • valuation drivers,
    • reconciliation points,
    • accounting trigger events.
  • Contribute to the definition of the target operating model and to the articulation between business needs and IT architecture.

F. Interface with IT / digital / transformation teams
