JOB PURPOSE:
|
|
The Electrical Engineer will be accountable to supervise a team of maintenance foremen/technicians and support staff to fulfil the day-to-day electrical maintenance activities at the power and desalination plant. In addition to supporting the management of the major outages of the plant through the provision of a gas turbine long-term service agreement, ensuring that the plant meets Safety, Environmental, availability, reliability, efficiency, and budgetary targets.

- Ensures the compliance of IMS. Ensures a safe working environment for himself, his colleagues and contractors while working on any equipment
- Obtains a Permit to Work for each job as necessitated by the safety and associated Procedures
- Ensures all Method Statements Work Instruction and Procedures are followed by himself and Contractors while undertaking any work
- Ensure that all appropriate tools are available to ensure work can be carried out safely on equipment
- Supervises Electrical Technicians and Contractors to ensure Safety Rules and HSE procedures are followed
- Reports any unsafe conditions/unsafe acts in accordance with procedure
- Shall possess valid driving license or attain driving license before end of the probation period

Maintenance Task Planning and Execution
- Plan, execute, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance in addition to Project Execution and upgrades for electrical systems and equipment.
- Ensures maintenance tasks are completed by the Technicians as per Work Orders generated in CMMS
- Ensures work done notes on maintenance carried out is documented in CMMS
- Produce reports as necessary on any maintenance activity
- Plans for and ensure that maintenance of all electrical equipment is in accordance with OEM manuals and best practices for the equipment
- Along with the Section Head Electrical, ensures electrical maintenance planning is correctly scheduled so that all equipment is maintained as per recommended intervals
- Reviews Electrical Maintenance Procedures/practices and suggests where they can be improved
- Ensure all time readiness for any kind of audit
- Review and analyze maintenance reports, test results, and recommend improvements.

Equipment Failure Trouble Shooting and Repair
- Supports the 24-hour operation by being regularly available for call-out at short notice
- Attempts at all possible means of reducing equipment downtime and ensuring high plant availability
- Performs trouble shooting activities as necessary to determine failure conditions and rectifies defects found
- Records and reports to the Section Head-Electrical all rectification jobs undertaken
- Generate reports of equipment failures
- Performs Root Cause Analysis of Failures/Potential Failures
- Works with Plant Operations Personnel for resolving problems encountered with electrical equipment.

- Practical knowledge of major electrical component maintenance associated with GT, ST HRSG in combined cycle configuration and desalination processes.

- Assists to establish the appropriate procedures and computerized electrical maintenance management processes as applicable to prudent engineering standards.

- The jobholder operates under the general guidance of the Section Head-Electrical on all routine issues related to plant operations and team management
- The jobholder is free to plan and manage own areas of activity within policy/procedural boundary limits
- Any extraordinary issues arising outside of set policies and procedures are referred to the Maintenance Manager/ Section Head-Electrical for discussion and approval of recommended actions.

The Electrical Engineer role involves working in environments that demand strong physical and mental resilience. The candidate must:
- Be medically fit to work in power plant conditions, including exposure to high voltage, heat, noise, and confined spaces.
- Possess sufficient strength and stamina to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods during inspections and supervision.
- Have the ability to work at heights and in elevated areas, including scaffolds and overhead cranes.
- Maintain good vision (with corrective lenses if required) and hearing to safely monitor electrical systems and alarms.
- Exhibit strong hand-eye coordination and dexterity for handling electrical components
- Be able to respond promptly and physically in emergency or fault conditions, including rapid movement to safe locations.
- Tolerate rotating shifts, extended working hours, emergency callouts physically demanding schedules as per plant operational needs.
