Context:

 

Within ENGIE South Africa, the S&EM business is in full development. The South African branch of S&EM aims to meet the energy needs of private offtakers across Southern Africa, by providing them with energy and supporting them in their optimization actions and transition towards a decarbonized production.

As an Originator, your role is focussed on driving sales to developing new business opportunities & revenue streams for utility scale solar PV, wind, and Batteries Energy Storage Projects (BESS) for Commercial and Industrial Customers in South Africa.

Role:

  • Prospect, qualify and engage new customers.
  • Develop a transaction pipeline and drive sales closures to achieve sales revenue targets.
  • Drive relationships from initial engagement through to the successful closing of sales, including negotiating commercial terms.
  • Respond to RFPs from customers and mobilizing the teams needed internally.
  • Develop and present sales proposals to clients.
  • Work collaboratively to refine our product offering and design new products and solutions to answer evolving needs of our customers and prospects.
  • Analyse client needs, gather market intelligence and identify industry trends.
  • Contribute to automate and digitalize operations, processes and reporting.
  • coordinating with internal stakeholders (structuring, legal, credit/KYC teams, etc.).
  • Follow up on regulation and evolutions of the renewable energy sector in South Africa.
  • Contribute to the development/improvement of contract templates in close collaboration with legal and structuring.
  • Follow risk and governance framework.

 

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Degree in business, finance, economics or a related field.
  • 3 years’ work experience in the renewable energy / power sector (sales, tendering, project management, advisory).
  • You need to know the key commercial drivers (business case) that underpin Renewable Energy.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Organised, reliable, and deliver quality output.
