ENGIE, in its capacity as shareholder, provides support, including legal assistance, to such entities during the projects’ operational phase.

The Job Holder will be appointed as an ENGIE Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd employee and will be based at the following registered address:  ENGIE Southern Africa , 3012A Winnie Mandela Drive , Bryanston, Johannesburg - South Africa.

 

3. JOB PURPOSE

 The Operations Technology (OT) Technical Manager’s role is to support teams responsible for the resilience and compliance of operational technology (OT) systems at various industrial sites including power plants, solar, wind, and battery storage facilities. The role requires expertise in OT systems such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), as well as their communication protocols .

 

 

4. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The OT Technical  Manager  will focus on:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead OT Technical projects, including design, deployment, and maintenance of plant systems, ensuring adherence to regulations and ENGIE OT frameworks .
  • Manage incident response from detection to recovery and develop incident response plans for global business units .
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide training on OT systems and security best practices .
  • Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with other departments .
  • Lead and mentor a team of OT technical professionals, managing their performance and development .

Team Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve cybersecurity resilience in OT environments.
  • Deploy security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
  • Analyse OT environments including SCADA and DCS systems to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Evaluate OT system designs for security weaknesses.
  • Collaborate with OEMs and security vendors to integrate advanced cybersecurity technologies.

Team Focus and Cybersecurity Framework

The OT/ICS Technical Team works to identify vulnerabilities and assess risks to maintain and review the security posture and vulnerabilities of industrial control systems. Their efforts are guided by the Group's OT Framework implemented across ENGIE South Africa sites. Compliance and risk identification are achieved through assessments and audits based on standards such as NIST, NERC, ISA/IEC 62443, ISO 27001, and ISO 27002 .

 

Team Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve cybersecurity resilience in OT environments.
  • Deploy security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
  • Analyse OT environments including SCADA and DCS systems to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Evaluate OT system designs for security weaknesses.
  • Collaborate with OEMs and security vendors to integrate advanced cybersecurity technologies.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Cybersecurity, IT, Computer Science, or related fields; relevant experience can substitute for a degree .
  • Certifications: Highly desirable certifications include CISSP, CISM, GICSP, with mandatory certification such as CISSP, CISA, or CISM to be obtained within 12 months   .
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in OT Technical roles, with expertise in secure network architecture, penetration testing, and incident response .
  • Technical knowledge: Deep understanding of OT environments, the Purdue Model, and familiarity with current OEMs and security vendors .
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage teams with strong communication and interpersonal skills .
  • Preferred additional certifications include CWSP, GIAC, GICSP, ISA/IEC 62443, CCNA, CCNP, CCSP, and MSCE  .
