Shift Charge Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:
Shift Engineer is responsible to lead the Operations Shift Team to ensure safe operation, control and emergency handling of the RO plant during shift operations in accordance with established contractual requirements, dispatch requirements, potable water quality, cost and time objectives.
. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensures that the Potable Water from the Desalination Facility is dispatched in accordance with the dispatch instructions received from the Water Control Centre (WCC).
- Work planning and prioritization.
- Provides focused leadership to the shift team to achieve plant performance and ensure optimum level of water export as required by the off taker
- Ensures shifts are well manned and required resources are available for the team to operate the plant safety, reliably and efficiently.
- Understand plant status at shift takeover and exchanges important details to the shift team. Ensures accurate and detailed information is passed to the following shift.
- Co-ordination among the operations and maintenance teams for routine and corrective maintenance requirements.
- Ensures and oversees routine testing activities.
- Oversees and monitors plant and equipment start-ups and shutdown as required.
- Continuous monitoring and analysis of equipment operating parameters for early prediction of equipment abnormal condition and initiate appropriate action to prevent unscheduled unit or equipment outage.
- Oversees chemical processes, sampling and water plant control for quality standards
and environmental compliance and safety.
- Plays the role of incident commander in emergency circumstances.
- Communication and cooperation with the Maintenance and Operation, Finance and Accounting, HR/Administration and HSE team.
- Liaise with Maintenance to identify and follow up plant defects;
- Understanding of WPA and OMA to ensure accurate commercial communication with WCC and/or offtaker for operational issues.
- Responsible to make sure periodic reviews and revisions are carried out to keep all the operational procedures updated and make sure that people are trained for the changes.
- To make sure that all relevant operational procedures and instructions are being followed so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Take active participation in all types of operation activities, diagnosis and trouble shooting of Desalination Facility.
- Complete shift reports and data reports in accordance with the WPA, O&M Agreement and Company procedures.
- Supports the O&M Manager in performing Incidents Report and Root Cause Analysis and recommends corrective actions.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Essential Qualifications:
- B. Sc. Engineering/Diploma in either of Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Electronics, Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
Experience:
Minimum 4 Years for Degree and 6 Years with Diploma in the field of Water Treatment / MSF / MED / RO.
Experience in SWRO commissioning and startup will be preferred.
Experience in GCC market will be preferred.
Ability to interpret PI&D and technical drawings
