What You Can Expect
As a Project Engineer Intern at The Ohio State University (OSU) in Columbus, OH, you will assist the Project Management Team in all aspects of the project execution that will encompass multi-discipline engineering, design, erection works, quality control and start-up and commissioning phase. You will report directly to the Project Engineering Manager. This internship is scheduled to run from September 8, 2025, through December 12, 2022
In this role your key responsibilities everyday will be:
- Provide support to project management in matters of progress, coordination, entitlement and interpretation of contract documents
- Review and evaluate Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) Contractor and/or Subcontractor contract payments and change orders
- Provide input to preparation and issuance of technical and contract correspondence, compilation of requisite records and claim submissions to validate claims both against EPC Contractor and subcontractors and protection of ENGIE’s rights and entitlements against incoming claims
- Assist in regular site inspections and site meetings to determine the status of the tasks, to assist with the coordination of the works and to provide input to solve technical problems
- Apply QA / QC requirements according to field quality program, Installation & Testing programs, and plans, working closely with QA / QC members of the Project Management Team.
- Ensure that work follows applicable codes, statutory regulations and specifications
- Review engineering works and submittals to ensure works are performed in compliance with the QC, contract, and equipment specifications
- Assist in the implementation of all quality control procedures for all construction and erection activities to the specifications of the contract agreement
- Review and provide input to engineering changes as may be discovered during commissioning and start-up
- Keep daily logbook with all relevant information regarding problems, work tasks, improvements, contractor behavior, schedule delays, working time, etc. (active support in order to avoid claims)
- Attend system walk downs (as needed to assist the project), coordinate punch list activities and closure of open action items
- Attend safety walks and log safety items in the field
- Assist in ensuring that construction, erection completion documentation and turnover packages are timely prepared and submitted
- Maintain and coordinate the Project documentation, which may include but is not limited to requests for information, field change modification forms, and engineering documentation changes
What You’ll Bring
- Currently enrolled at Ohio State University
- Minimum of 2 years of completed course work within Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree program with a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Experience in Excel, including data visualization techniques
- Desire to gain knowledge of construction pricing, scheduling and execution processes
- Keen interest in learning the relationship of engineering principles to engineering scheduling and execution processes
Additional Details
- This role requires attendance at a worksite
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- 10-20 hours per week, additional hours/weeks may be available based on business needs and will be discussed in advance with supervisor
- Additional terms may be available if interest by candidate and deemed appropriate by supervisor
Compensation
Salary Range: $24.00 to $31.00 USD hourly
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
