As a Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Intern, you will be part of ENGIE North America’s M&A and Business Development team, supporting the evaluation and execution of grid-scale renewable energy transactions across North America. The role offers handson exposure to live acquisitions and divestments, strategic market analysis, and seniorlevel investment decisionmaking. This fulltime summer internship is limited to no more than 40 hours per week and reports to leadership within the M&A and Business Development organization.

 

What You Will Do

  • Support financial modeling and valuation work (DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions) for renewable energy project acquisitions, including solar, battery storage, and wind assets
  • Conduct industry, market, and competitor research to inform investment theses and bid strategy
  • Assist in preparing investment committee memoranda and transaction presentations
  • Support transaction diligence, including data room management, document review, and coordination across development, engineering, construction, power marketing, finance and legal workstreams
  • Analyze key risks, sensitivities, and value drivers impacting asset pricing and deal structure
  • Track and summarize market activity, active deal flow, and pipeline opportunities across North American power markets
  • Participate in internal discussions on deal strategy, structuring considerations, and investment recommendations

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 2nd year undergraduate or graduate degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, Science, or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and familiarity with Power BI is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with a high degree of accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbally

 

Additional Details

  • Interns must be enrolled students in good standing at the commencement of the intern semester
  • The internship work term will be from June 1, 2026, to August 21, 2026, based in our Chicago, IL office
  • This role is eligible for our hybrid in-office work policy and is not eligible for remote work
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

Compensation

Hourly Range:  $25.50 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
