Job Purpose:

Responsible for safely, efficiently, and effectively operating machinery and systems in a cost-effective manner. The Engineer must ensure the highest level of professionalism while meeting the client's needs, and a commitment to achieving the goal of no downtime. Responsible for protecting and improving the value of the client assets and ensuring that building engineering systems continue to perform their intended function. Provides technical support for the day-to-day operations of ICT systems and/or networks to ensure that it is used in an efficient manner and in accordance with regulatory and legislative requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice, support and administration to customers and stakeholders on efficient and effective management and use of products, systems, processes, technologies and/or services to optimize efficiency.
  • Create and maintain support documents regarding administrative processes, instructions, and guidelines to ensure effective knowledge sharing and optimize efficiency.
  • Supervisor, maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all Data Centre ICT systems including audio video, CCTV, internal network, and fibre connectivity.
  • Assist in the implementation of systems and processes to ensure fit for purpose, compliance with all relevant rules and/or conditions, facilitate improved efficiencies and are aligned to long-term strategies.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, providing advice on current and planned utilization of the systems and/or networks for all levels of compliance and performance with regulatory requirements to ensure the system meets requirements.
  • Monitor, resolve queries and provide technical advice to stakeholders to ensure compliance and a quick resolution of any issues within service-level agreements.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and diagnose technical problems and issues such as installation, maintenance, repair, upgrade, and configuration and troubleshooting of desktops, software, hardware, printers, internet, email, databases, operating systems, and security systems.
  • Supported resolution of technical risks and issues and provided support and problem resolution to minimize the impact of service outages.
  • Strict adherence to Client-established engineering guidelines, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance program.
  • Track the availability of an adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Ensure that compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines are met as they relate to the operation of the building’s infrastructure. Responsible for alerting management of building discrepancies.
  • Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the building including up-to-date building drawings and single-lines.
  • Oversee the activities of contractors working within the building either as representatives of the building itself or tenants operating within the buildings.
  • Responsible for keeping records of building rounds and readings, as well as all engineering logs and engineering data sheets.
  • Ensure that the Change Management Process is carried out on the building’s critical infrastructure.
  • Manage updates and records of all software.
  • Performs additional job duties as requested.

 

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in configuring and managing networking equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools like Wireshark, Nagios, PRTG, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Knowledge of data centre networking architecture, including topologies, redundancy, and high availability configurations.
  • Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) and network virtualization technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with both physical and virtual networking environments.
  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Excellent time management skills.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in a related information technology field such as computer science or software engineering.
  • Preferably certified ITIL, PRINCE2, CCNA or CCNP.
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience in the ICT FM sector.
  • Previous experience in operating systems like Windows, Linux, or Unix.
