As the ENGIE Water Treatment Operations and Maintenance Manager at the University of Iowa you will be responsible for managerial and technical oversight of the University’s drinking water treatment plants and High-Quality Water team. The Main Campus Water plant is primarily a surface water treatment plant with supplemental well-water supplies available. The Oakdale Water plant is a well-water plant. Leads and oversees all plant operations and maintenance. Responsible for determining treatment methods and technologies to support customer needs according to the Concession Agreement and in compliance with safety and environmental standards. Responsible for driving continuous improvements in safety, compliance programs and documentation. Reports to the Director of Energy Delivery.
You will:
- Develop and implement water treatment methods and technologies to provide water quality meeting all standards
- Direct Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities of Water Plant and High Quality to achieve water quality and service reliability standards required by campus customers
- Be responsible with team for hiring, training, and assignment of all operation and maintenance personnel
- Support full compliance with corporate safety program and promote safety culture
- Develop maintenance and propose capital projects to improve the operability and reliability of the water plant by extending equipment life or making plant improvements
- With team, provide technical review and oversight of capital projects within the Water Plant and High-Quality Water operations
- Direct robust maintenance management programs focused on preventive and predictive maintenance utilizing the full capabilities of our CMMS system
- Maintain compliance, including thorough documentation, with all Safe Drinking Water Act and other environmental regulatory requirements. including but not limited to the University of Iowa, US Environmental Protection Agency and Iowa Department of Natural Resources
- Be responsible for staff hiring, training and development, including overseeing the important university intern development program for student Water Plant Operator.
- Implements corporate policies, procedures and directives.
- Carries out other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related scientific program, or
- A minimum 10 years’ experience in water treatment plant operations, preferably with operation of a surface water treatment plant with production capacity greater than 2 MGD
Additional Details
- This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license//will drive company vehicle
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- This position consists of 15% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
- Direct experience managing staff performance and development
- Experience and proven commitment to implementation of robust maintenance management practices
- Practical experience meeting safety and environmental compliance requirements for utility operations
- Subject to 24-hour emergency call
Compensation
Salary Range: $102,000 – $156,400 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
