What You Can Expect

As a Journeyman Electrician with ENGIE, you will maintain, troubleshoot, and support the electrical systems and utility infrastructure serving the University of Iowa campus.

This opportunity may be a strong fit for licensed electricians with experience in industrial, institutional, utility, power generation, manufacturing, healthcare, commercial construction, or large facilities environments.

What You’ll Do

How Leveling Is Determined

  • Electrician II employees independently diagnose more complex issues, work with medium-voltage systems, support outage coordination, and serve as experienced technical resources
  • The final level will be based on the candidate’s journeyman experience, technical knowledge, troubleshooting capability, and ability to independently plan and complete work

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Active State of Iowa Class A or Class B Journeyman Electrician license
  • Candidates licensed in an applicable Iowa reciprocity state may also be considered if they can obtain the required Iowa license within the established hiring timeline
  • Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing commercial, institutional, utility, or industrial electrical systems
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, safe work practices, and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate a company vehicle when traveling between campus facilities or work locations
  • Ability to participate in scheduled on-call coverage and respond to emergency maintenance needs, as required

Preferred experience includes industrial or institutional electrical maintenance; medium-voltage systems; switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, variable-frequency drives, controls, instrumentation, or electrical outage coordination within power plants, universities, hospitals, manufacturing facilities, data centers, water facilities, or other critical infrastructure environments.
