At ENGIE, every infrastructure project we deliver helps build a more sustainable future. We are seeking a Construction Manager I to join our Capital Projects team supporting utility infrastructure projects at the University of Iowa.

In this role, you will help manage capital projects across two university campuses, with individual project values typically ranging from $100,000 to $20 million. You'll oversee projects from development through construction and closeout while partnering with experienced Construction Managers on larger and more complex initiatives. This position offers an opportunity to build your construction management expertise while contributing to critical energy and utility infrastructure improvements.

What You’ll Do

• Lead utility infrastructure projects from development through construction, closeout, and handover to Operations & Maintenance and Asset Management teams
• Conduct routine site visits and monitor field activities to support safe, efficient, and compliant project execution
• Manage multiple concurrent construction projects and coordinate contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project partners
• Support ENGIE's Health, Safety, and Environment program by promoting safe work practices and partnering with contractors to maintain compliance
• Track and report construction progress, safety metrics, schedule performance, work activities, and regulatory requirements using project KPIs
• Review and administer project documentation, including change orders, requests for information (RFIs), submittals, notices, and supplier agreements
• Collaborate with project teams, campus stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to coordinate schedules, resolve issues, and maintain project alignment
• Develop and maintain construction management plans with Project Managers to support successful project delivery against approved scope, schedule, and budget baselines

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; in lieu of a degree four (4) years of relevant experience in construction, infrastructure, utilities project delivery
• At least one (1) year of experience supporting construction projects, capital projects, utility infrastructure, industrial facilities, energy projects, or similar environments
• Knowledge of construction means and methods, project sequencing, field operations, and jobsite safety practices
• Experience maintaining project documentation, daily reports, schedules, progress tracking, inspections, KPIs, or other construction records
• Ability to coordinate contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders while supporting project execution and issue resolution
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate project records
• Familiarity with construction management software, scheduling tools, and digital project management systems

Additional Details

• This role is eligible for our hybrid in-office work policy; and is not eligible for remote work
• Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record; for the use of company, hire cars, and personal vehicles to drive to site locations
• Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
• Physically able to walk and inspect construction sites for extended periods in varying weather conditions
• Comfortable working in a field-based, hands-on environment with tools and equipment as needed

Compensation

Hourly Range: $30.43 - $40.86 USD

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
