What You Can Expect

As the Senior Renewable Operations Control Center (ROCC) System Operator for ENGIE Renewables Global Business Unit (RGBU) based in Houston, TX, your role entails operating under the guidance of the ROCC Supervisor and in collaboration with Engineering, IT, and Operations stakeholders. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor, control, and maintain stable and reliable operation of ENGIE's 4.5 GW renewable fleet of utility-scale wind, solar, and battery storage assets across North America from the ROCC. You may have the opportunity to visit project sites for training purposes.

Specific on shift tasks and duties include:

  • Maintain ongoing communication with on-site personnel and Asset Managers to confirm operational status
  • Implement and coordinate ENGIE asset outages as needed to support preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Developing or aiding in development of operational procedures or operator software tools
  • You may have an opportunity to mentor and train other junior team members

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You have a minimum high school diploma
  • You must have five (5) years’ experience within a Real-time operations environment in the electricity sector (generation, transmission, distribution) and eager to gain knowledge in wind and solar generation
  • You have a PJM Generation Dispatcher certification
  • You are willing to obtain a North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) certification
  • You have current knowledge of region-specific real-time operations regulations and requirements in one or more of the regions that ENGIE operates in (ERCOT, PJM, SPP)
  • You have working knowledge of protection and control systems including common substation relay schemes, automatic reclosing, and instrument transformers.
  • You have experience with troubleshooting or mitigating abnormal or emergency bulk electric system (BES) conditions like transmission constraints, or unplanned outages of facilities or equipment.  
  • You have experience dispatching field maintenance crews to investigate abnormal or emergency conditions, and logging conditions, actions, & communications for future review.

 

 

Additional Details

  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, modified DuPont model working both day and overnight
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • Must have the ability to travel domestically to visit sites for training, meetings, or company events no longer than a week at a time.
  • Ability to use company computer with Microsoft Suite, software tools and SCADA systems to analyze data and create reporting or process documentation
  • Ability to act as a relief during planned or unexpected absences

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $96,100.00 – $155,043.00 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
