The Senior Business Development Manager (SBDM) is accountable for the growth of the market through responsible leadership of multi-functional teams during all phases of the Government's procurement process: pre-acquisition, proposal development response and selection, development activities, implementation and performance services. The SBDM is fully accountable for each of their project opportunities and represents ENGIE to his/her clients. The SBDM is the voice of the client within ENGIE and is responsible for understanding their client's critical needs and articulating these requirements and success strategies to the project team. The SBDM will interact with their supervisor as needed, however most activities are completed without a supervisor’s advanced approval


What you’ll do:

  • Develop and take ownership for strategizing and building business with public sector clients.
  • Develop strategies for partnering and teaming relationships to increase opportunity selections.
  • Maintain a revenue and margin quota and robust sales funnel with demonstrable progression of opportunities through the sales life cycle.
  • Prepare timely, accurate and thorough customer activity reports and forecast reports using ENGIE business information systems.
    • Cultivate long-term relationships with the appropriate key client decision makers.
    • Schedule appointments and meetings with potential clients to review and define program opportunities and desired success parameters, and qualify opportunities.
    • Prepare and present well-articulated value proposition to prospective clients of the ENGIE organization.
    • Develop understanding of the organization's structure and key buying influences of assigned client opportunities.
    • Identify and ensure engagement with multiple stakeholders within the client's organization throughout the project development process, to determine and develop compelling strategies.
  • Provide marketplace feedback, including competitive information, customer expectations, industry trends, etc.
  • Actively lead federal government project opportunities and teams within established guidelines using government contract vehicles such as ESPC, UESC, PPA, EUL and/or UP and other contracts from opportunity identification through selection, contract award, implementation and ongoing service.
  • Accountable for effective communication with federal government representatives and articulating the “must-have” and “win” strategies to the ENGIE team.
  • Be focal point for resolving installation, collections and other customer satisfaction issues.[PS3] [MJ4]
  • Attend critical networking and trade show events to obtain leads, present a positive public image of ENGIE Services U.S. Inc, and expand knowledge of critical issues facing our customer base
  • Mentor, partner, and train new Business Development Managers
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager


What you bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree or four year degree from an accredited college or university required 
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of consultative and/or complex sales experience, with a preference for a senior level professional having a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and business relationships
  • Sound understanding of team dynamics and an ability to promote and function within the team
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Proficient in using of MS-Office products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to maintain positive and cooperative temperament during periods of intensity and stress
  • Maintain professionalism, diplomacy, sensitivity, and tact to portray the company in a positive manner
  • Experienced developing and explaining complex financial proformas
  • Demonstrated financial and business acumen.


Additional Information/Conditions:

  • Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must be available to travel up to 50-75% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing

  • Salary Range: $114,135-$191,100 USD, annually 
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors 
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
