SCADA GMS Engineer

This position is part of Engie Energy Marketing NA’s GMS IT team, providing real time operational support for SCADA / GMS systems. Coverage is required to ensure that the critical SCADA / GMS system used by System Control Center operators and Real-time Desk are reliable. The position will also provide technical support for maintenance such as system upgrades, This position expects independent action under limited supervision

 

This is a CONTRACT POSITION.

  • Pay Rate: $140.00/hr.

What you’ll do:

  • Experience working with AspenTech (OSII) Monarch platform - OpenView, OpenFEP, OpenICCP, OpenCALC (including Formulas), OpenSCADA, & OpenAGC 
  • Experience working with adding PI tags to Aveva PI Historian and using Monarch's HSH (High Speed Historian) 
  • Experience working in one or different energy markets (ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE, SPP, CAISO, MISO) 
  • Experience with AspenTech Monarch databases.  
  • Experience with working on end to end communications from SCADA to field devices and point-to-point checkouts.  
  • Experience with ICS Protocols DNP3 and ICCP.  
  • Experience with creating displays using PI Vision as well as AspenTech Monarch displays.  
  • Experience working on commissioning Generation Plants (Wind/Solar/Battery) 
  • Experience working with internal and external groups as well as stakeholders.  
  • Maintain SCADA / GMS systems to support unit dispatch to generation resources 
  • Assist and support resource energization
  • Assist the compliance with energy markets and NERC protocols and guides, and other applicable regulations. 

 

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience in IT and OT environments. 
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in application support and development with some IT Project Management experience. 
  • Detailed understanding of the NERC CIP requirements and prior program implementation experience. 
  • Detailed knowledge of generation control systems. AspenTech’s Monarch knowledge highly preferred. 
  • Demonstrated experience with SCADA protocols including DNP 3.0 over TCP/IP, PI historians, ICCP, and IT security related applications. Proficient with Windows operating systems and commonly used programming technologies such as C, C#, Java, Visual Basic, .Net and SQL. Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint).
