The SCADA/Data Software Engineer is responsible for installation, integration, maintenance and management of SCADA hardware and software. The Engineer is expected to collaborate with others in the Software Engineering group to support monitoring and managing Energy Systems. 

 

This position sits in Houston, TX and will report to the Chief Technology Officer for Flexible Generation.

What you’ll do:

  • The installation, configuration, monitoring and management of servers, networks, and equipment 
  • Continuous maintenance and upgrades to the SCADA systems 
  • Data communication monitoring 
  • PLC circuit troubleshooting 
  • Troubleshooting equipment and software to repair and diagnose any malfunctions in the system 
  • System access management 
  • License and support document organization and maintenance 
  • Carries out other duties as assigned 

 

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in engineering, industrial, utility, or construction environments
  • A minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience with SCADA systems 
  • Experience with SQL and/or Time-series databases 
  • Communications protocols: Modbus and DNP3 
  • Ability to create, read and interpret construction plans and specifications  
  • The ability to spend time on site during the startup, commissioning, and testing phase of a project.  This will require travel for several weeks at a time being based away from the base location during these periods. 
  • Excellent working knowledge of standard office software such as MS office, Teams, Sharepoint, MS Project, and other software such as ArcGIS, GreenIT, SAP, and Procore. 
  • Good organizational, prioritizing and time management skills, 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team 
  • An ability to exhibit flexibility which may require late night and/or weekend attention and/or short notice travel to address project related issues.

  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally. 
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy. 
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc. 
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and enter confined spaces as required  
  • Could involve some lifting.

  • Salary Range: $84,000 – $131,250 USD, annually 
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors 
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
