ENGIE Global Energy Management and Sales (GEMS) is responsible for managing the portfolio of gas, electricity, congestion revenues rights and environmental products for ENGIE, across geographies. More recently, GEMS has extended his scope to also manage all the market risks (energy, congestion, RECs, ancillaries) generated by the Renewable and Battery Storage Assets owned by ENGIE North America, which includes wind farms and solar farms – the Renewable Portfolio Management team is precisely the group in charge of these activities. As a senior member of this team, the Renewable Portfolio Management Sr Advisor will develop and deploy commercial and hedging strategies to maximize the profitability of Engie’s renewable assets while managing market risks within acceptable risk limits.


What you’ll do:

  • Articulate and execute hedging strategies deploying different instruments according to the risk, such as energy hedges, gas hedges, options, and Congestion Revenue Rights (CRRs)
  • Build and deploy strategies for Day-ahead bidding of wind and solar farms
  • Develop and assess scenarios with our Congestion Trading team to estimate congestion risks in ERCOT
  • Analyze and discuss the commercial terms of existing and upcoming PPAs, identifying the underlying risks, and proposing alternative language and/or mitigation strategies
  • Monitor markets trends, regulatory landscape, current risk levels and exposures, and other relevant sources of impacts
  • Articulate with Risk Group the development and improvement of the risk metrics, and the proper representation of assets and PPAs in our management systems
  • Produce monthly market analysis containing energy balance, the performance of transactions, market trends, and recommended course of action


What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Quantitative background preferred (E.g., Engineering, Finance, Economics, Math)
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience
  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience in Competitive Energy Markets, preferably dealing with Renewable assets
  • Experience in the market structure, transactions, and protocols of ERCOT (experience in another ISO is highly valued, specially SPP or PJM)
  • Excellent data handling, structuring, organizing, processing, and presenting skills (using Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Resourceful, ability to use a variety of tools, data sources, and systems; and inherent curiosity to procure and test new resources
  • Solid finance knowledge (i.e., capable of interpreting I/S and Budgets)
  • Commercial acumen with a good understanding of business principles, contracts, and relationships, including specific experience negotiating power purchase agreements and/or OTC trades
  • Deadline driven with project management skills for cross-organizational coordination

  • Salary Range: $130,830-$218,505 USD, annually 
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors 
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
