Quantitative Analyst II, Renewable Portfolio Management

As a Quantitative Analyst on the Renewable Portfolio Management Team in Houston, your work will increase the Team’s ability to mitigate portfolio risk and optimize portfolio revenues within wholesale power markets. In this role, you will be interacting with asset managers, traders, facility operators, and risk managers to develop financial and operational algorithms/models that support trading & asset optimization decisions. You will leverage your experience in data science and our expertise in electricity market fundamentals to streamline and automate trade support products, perform performance benchmarking and stress testing of methods and deliverables, and ensure compliance of products to market rules and transactional requirements.

 

Every day, you will be responsible for design, development & implementation of automated solutions for monetizing energy assets & other market participation models by leveraging knowledge and experience in mathematical programming, predictive analytics, and/or power systems engineering along with the capability to leverage platform technologies including cloud computing, numerical solver methods, and data storage infrastructures.

 

  • Prepare code documentation, technical reports, quantitative analyses, and presentation material for internal and external use
  • Implement forecasting and optimization models for operation and valuation of renewable resources and battery storage
  • Engage and support the Power Portfolio Management, Pricing & Structuring, and Project Acquisition team by providing analysis on historical and forward market prices, market fundamentals, Power Purchase Agreement and Offtake valuations, and financial forecast variances.
  • Leverage your skills in statistical analysis, market fundamentals, Independent System Operator (ISO) protocols, and regulatory issues to drive the insights into historical and forward pricing curves for power, ancillary services, and renewable energy credits
  • Lead the development of effective and scalable code (e.g., Python and SQL)
  • Maintain and create best practice frameworks for existing and new Git repositories (e.g., Azure Dev Ops, GitHub).
  • Lead the application of statistical and predictive modeling techniques (e.g., Machine Learning and Bayesian Statistics) in a collaborative environment to build, maintain, and improve decision support systems.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of Cloud data pipelines (e.g., Azure Data Factory) to ensure that all data flows are functional.
  • Leverage your data and analytics experience to propose solutions for in-business end-users while applying visualization and optimization models

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline which you completed courses in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or STEM related discipline.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of power industry experience
  • Advanced knowledge using the following languages: T-SQL, PL-SQL, PL/pgSQL, Python, R, and DAX.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in the wholesale power markets with backgrounds in the following: Commodity trading, Pricing & Structuring, Portfolio & Risk management.
  • Have a solid statistical foundation (i.e., bias detection and mitigation techniques, ANOVA, Linear Regressions, Multivariate Statistics, and Bayesian Statistics).
  • Demonstrates experience and knowledge of conducting and formulating predictive modeling techniques (e.g., regression, time series forecasting, machine learning, decision trees, and clustering).

Compensation

Salary Range: $62,400 – $95,450 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
