The Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) business unit is the fully integrated trading arm of the ENGIE Group. GEMS teams manage a large and highly diversified energy portfolio, including electricity, natural gas, biomass, LNG and other fuels, CO2 and environmental products, and provide a range of trading risk management solutions to all types of market participants in Europe, Asia and in the US. GEMS manages the B2B supply business within ENGIE, including supply contracts and Power Purchase Agreements.

 

The Commercial Operations group of Engie Energy Marketing is involved in arranging for the physical delivery of electricity from power plants and  transactions with bilateral counterparties, submission of meter data to ISOs and additionally arranging for the purchase and receipt of physical energy for Engie’s and other REP retail load.   The group also manages credit postings with all ISOs and manages user credentials to all ISO portals.   

 

This position is located in Houston, TX and reports to Commercial Operations Senior Advisor.

What you’ll do:

  • Daily bidding and scheduling of Retail load in multiple ISOs in which Engie and it’s REP customers serve retail load
  • Daily scheduling of physical bilateral transactions in multiple ISOs
  • Daily meter submission in multiple ISOs
  • Manage ISO portal access credentials for those users working for ENGIE as well as external users who require access 
  • Daily monitoring of credit postings at various ISOs and coordination with the Treasury department to modify the postings as appropriate
  • Participate in and provide support for the startup and onboarding of new REP’s and generation assets
  • Assist with power settlements in multiple ISOs 
  • Develop and maintain documentation for scheduling and settlements processes
  • Coordinating with IT to enhance and test scheduling systems and processes
  • Carries out other duties and analysis as assigned

 

What you bring:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of business experience
  • Prior experience as a power scheduler in multiple ISOs is preferred.
  • Must be able to work at least 5 days and 40 hours per week, at Engie’s offices in Houston. Some level of remote work may be allowed at supervisor’s discretion.  Scheduling on some weekends and holidays is required.
  • Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment under multiple daily deadlines
  • Must be able to gain an understanding of data flows, systems and processes, and be able to use that knowledge to support troubleshooting in case of occasional automation/process failures.  
  • Familiarity with a “bid-to-bill” system such as Hartigen Solutions’ PowerOptix platform is desirable.
  • Must have the ability to think analytically, present ideas professionally, and work in project teams.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel.

  • Salary Range: $63,525 - $105,525, annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
