The Power Market Analysis Senior Advisor provides fundamental analysis of North American Power markets.

 

This position is located in Houston, TX and reports to Vice President, Trading Gas & Power.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Analyze and understand the fundamentals of the North American Eastern Interconnect ISO electricity markets over the short and medium term horizon.
  • Develop and maintain North American Power full dispatch stack models.
  • Propose and monitor trading strategies based on fundamental research and provide insight into market developments
  • Develop models for projected build out of RENEWABLE generation in across all  US ISO’s.
  • Develop framework for analyzing impact of Battery deployment on Eastern Interconnect ISO’s
  • Support traders on ad-hoc analysis on various subjects related to power markets
  • Liaise and coordinate with Global Energy Management (GEM) market analysis teams
  • Develop and maintain market data, analysis and presentations

 

What you bring:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in relevant area (engineering, business, finance, mathematics) is preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant business experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in energy markets fundamental analysis
  • Proven track record in developing value-added analysis for trading activities and customer development
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent Data Science skills
  • Clear and effective communicator
  • Willingness to engage in dialogue and debate with colleagues
  • Fluency in weather normalization and other statistical techniques
  • Can work autonomously and be flexible
  • Focus on added value for trading activities
  • Proficiency in relevant IT tools (Excel, VBA, Bloomberg)

  • Salary Range: $105,910 - $270,530, annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
