Operations SCADA/ PLC Senior Engineer

The SCADA Senior Engineer position will support operations in implementing, maintaining and supporting the operations realtime desk for Utility Scale Renewable Generation.

 

This position can sit in Houston, TX and is eligible to work in many locations across the U.S. This position will report to the Engineering Manager.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for initial implementation and support of a new, multi-site, high availability in the ERCOT, NYISO, PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO & WECC markets
  • Design, install, optimize, support, and troubleshoot all aspects of the overall system, insuring solid reliability
  • Ensure that all telemetry and controls are available and accurate
  • Configure and maintain alarm management of SCADA system alarms for energy controllers, customers and SCADA staff
  • Develop/maintain Grid requirements test applications
  • Assist with engineering analysis, design review and commissioning of renewable energy projects including Wind, Solar PV, Solar PV + Energy Storage
  • Prepare performance monitoring tools and programming applications
  • Create test procedures to verify hardware and software designs
  • Carry out other duties as assigned

 

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Associate Degree in Automation and Controls Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering, Computer Programming Engineering, Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and utility experience 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience   
  • Experience in programming Schneider Wonderware System Platform (Galaxy Repository, Object oriented programming and historian)
  • Proficient in Schneider – AVEVA Wonderware System Platform Version 2017 and 2020
  • Experience with Grafana, influxDB and SQL
  • Ability to travel to remote sites to assist project commissioning and end-to-end signal check-out activities of SCADA communications
  • Strong understanding of NERC CIP security principals
  • Strong understanding in programming Ignition
  • Experience in PLC hardware and maintenance for PLC’s Allen-Bradley Control Logix, ABB PLC
  • Strong understanding of various communication protocols including: MODBUS, DNP, ICCP, OPC
  • Excellent written communication skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Excel and Power Point
  • Understands SCADA development lifecycle
  • Independent travel within North America is required

  • Salary Range: $79,305-$202,540, annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
