ENGIE is committed to reshaping the energy future through the global implementation of a lower carbon energy economy to preserve the world’s natural resources. ENGIE has under management ~7 GW of Wind & Solar assets in both United States and Canada and various Independent Service Operators (ISO’s), amongst others ERCOT, SPP, PJM, MISO. Our portfolio is growing, and we expect to reach 8.5 GW by 2025 and more than 17 GW by 2030 as well as entering new ISOs.

 

The Director Commercial & Market Risk will sit in our Houston, TX office and will work on our portfolio of Wind, Solar and Battery storages assets to commercially create additional value within our market.

 

 

Commercial Activity

  • Lead commercial discussion for our Wind & Solar fleet: New PPAs, PPA renegotiation, load development (Data Center for example), Grid enabling technologies etc. to create additional value for our portfolio
  • Lead discussion with our trading entity to secure revenues of our operating Battery storage fleet (~0.7 GW by end 2024)
  • Lead the Tax Credit Transfer activity
  • In charge of the RECs management activity and Capacity management activity that are not yet contracted with our clients (P&L: ~$15M/year) – including RECs certification / audit

 

 

Market Risk Management

  • Establish yearly market risk mandate
  • Propose Market Risk Mitigation measure for our new PPAs
  • Provide opinion on market risk in our investment file and for new Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) review (PPA that are signed before Commercial Operations Date)
  • Validate market strategy proposed by our trading entity to maximize risk adjusted value of our portfolio
  • Ensure strong relationship and processes with ENGIE’s Global Energy Management and Supply entities

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Environmental, Business Administration or Economics
  • Minimum 10 years relevant work experience
  • Broad experience in all aspects of the power industry and demonstrated understanding of power plant operations and economics
  • Experienced commercial leader capable to create new ideas and develop new businesses
  • Strong understanding of power markets, underlying market risks and quantification of market risks
  • Detail-oriented individual who will work proactively to pursue value creation
  • Understanding of renewables financials model: Tax equity, cash equity, debt
  • Understanding of partnership agreements (LLCA etc.) and of assets contractual arrangements (LTSA, PPAs, JVMA, OMA, AMA, etc.)
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-based environment and who is highly capable of working constructively and maintaining good relationships with internal and external parties
  • Desire to advance the adoption and deployment of renewable energy solutions across North America

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy; in the Houston, TX office
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 20% of the time

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $166,900 – $255,070 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
