What You Can Expect

As the Construction & Quality Manager (CQM), based in Houston, TX, you will oversee a team of contracted on-site Owner’s Representatives and ensures that ENGIE’s Quality Assurance & Quality Control Plans are properly implemented at each Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction project.   The CQM’s primary role is to oversee the provision of qualified Owner’s representatives to all BESS construction projects, using one or more contracted suppliers, ensuring that all Owner’s Representatives are properly experienced, qualified and trained, and generally managing the provision of Owner’s representatives as a service to ongoing BESS construction projects.  In addition, the CQM will take on the role of Quality Assurance & Quality Control program manager for ENGIE’s BESS projects.  Working with the Engineering Team, Operations Team, and the Project Management Office, the CQM will develop and ensure proper implementation of ENGIE’s QA/QC program relative to the construction of BESS facilities.

 

  • Reporting to the Vice President, Project Delivery your primary duties encompass:
  • Responsible for the qualification, selection, and management of the supplier(s) of Owner’s Representatives for each BESS construction site
  • Reviews the qualifications for individuals proposed by the supplier(s) of Owner’s Representatives and ensures that they are properly experienced, qualified, and trained prior to accepting them for assignment to a construction site
  • Works closely with the HSE team to ensure that all Owner’s Representatives are properly trained in accordance with ENGIE’s One Safety Culture and that they are prepared to lead and drive implementation of the One Safety Culture at their assigned project
  • Monitors the daily activities of the Owner’s Representatives to ensure that they are properly meeting all requirements for facilitating, documenting, and reporting on construction activity at their site
  • Visits all the projects underway periodically to review and monitor the Owner’s Representatives’ work, conduct Management Safety Visits, and assess the QA/QC activities on site
  • Develops, implements, and monitors the Quality Assurance and Quality Control plan and activities to insure ENGIE’s facilities are constructed in accordance with their designs, codes, standards, regulations, and other requirements
  • Reviews and signs off on Contractor QA/QC plans; Ensures that all projects properly plan, and staff Owner’s QA/QC activities as needed
  • Manages relationships with the supplier(s) of Owner’s Representatives in collaboration with the Contracting and Procurement Team
  • Monitors and analyses KPIs relative to project construction and quality activities
  • Completes other duties as assigned

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering or related technical discipline
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ of direct construction related experience, with a focus on renewable energy or electrical transmission and distribution projects
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ of experience in physical/construction project management
  • Experience with hydrogen production by electrolysis, natural gas processing, and/or other chemical process related projects
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage and lead multi-discipline teams
  • The ability to be flexible and adjust to changing business and project conditions, develop and present alternative solutions to problems, and recommend a course of action to achieve objectives
  • A solid competency in construction management, project management and/or project controls
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS Project

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 50% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • An ability to exhibit flexibility which may require late night and/or weekend attention and/or short notice travel to address project related issues
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $112,000 – $172,500 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
