Strategic Category Procurement Senior Advisor - Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in North America


This role will be part of ENGIE North America (ENA) Procurement, which function serves as a critical lever to help achieve ENGIE's “zero-carbon transition as-a-service” business strategy and financial performance objectives. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing the overall BESS Procurement/Sourcing strategy within ENGIE NA for Global Business Units: Renewables (R-GBU), Flexible Generation (F- GBU) and Energy Solution (ES-GBU), leveraging Engie’s global buying power to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) while managing Quality and Service delivery through effective Supplier relationships Management (SRM).

 

This position is eligible to work in Houston, Denver, Chicago, Santa Barbara or close to other ENGIE's location, and reports to the Group Category Director in charge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and both the Vice President of Engineering and Delivery, Renewables and Managing Director of FlexGen in North America.

 

What you’ll do:
•  Implement Strategic Sourcing and Supply for BESS within ENGIE NA to establish and execute a long- term sourcing & supply strategy through strong relationships with vendors encompassing the supply chain aligned with Group Procurement strategy
•  Engage with key stakeholders across local business entities to understand the demand and business requirements by participating in project development and delivery planning processes
•  Conduct cost / benefit analyses to identify cost improvement opportunities and develop action plans to ultimately improve TCO and financial returns
•  Partner with key internal stakeholders globally and drive alignment with seniormanagement on BESS category strategy and sourcing plans in support of strategic business plans
•  Establish, develop, and maintain OEM relationships within NORAM as well as globally to sustain global goals and objectives.
•  Establish supplier selection criteria, manage competitive RFP bids, drive final supplier selections and lead negotiate efforts for contracting in partnership with key stakeholders in GBUs
•  Ensure creation and documentation of competitive bidding process for BESS Procurement across business entities
•  Develop, align and implement category strategy playbook for ENGIE NA with detailed communication plan in close cooperation with ENGIE Group Category Management Team

•  Provide category leadership with deep knowledge of the technology trend, pricing trend, industry trend, supply market, conduct supply market analysis, identify potential supply and demand challenges/ opportunities and monitor technological advances
•  Develop  and  nurture  relationships with strategic suppliers to foster communication on forward-looking strategies and long-range planning
•  Monitor supplier performance to assess continued ability to meet quality and delivery requirements and manage communication on production forecast or changes
•  Liaise with suppliers to ensure smooth supply chain operation, proactively communicate potential supply disruptions and develop a contingency plan
•  Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, Project Management & Health & Safety teams to measure supplier performance, manage supplier root cause and corrective action through SRM program
•  Provide category expertise to business teams to prepare for potential project bids
•  Lead by example and deliver excellence in customer service to internal stakeholders in Plants operations
•  Carry out other duties as assigned, especially in regards with local compliance to North America Procurement governance, processes & tools

 

What you bring:
•  Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Supply Chain, Engineering or Material Science preferred
•  MBA or Masters Preferred
•  A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant commercial negotiations and contracting experience for battery technology in supply chain function or business development function
•  Demonstrated technical knowledge of electrical components or Lithium-ion cells/battery systems
•  Experience with Procurement processes and tools such as SAP Ariba and Coupa
•  Strong knowledge of Strategic Sourcing and Category Management practices
•  Demonstrated ability to be innovative, lead and drive changes
•  Strong relationship management skills and the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with senior management
•  Ability and willingness to travel as needed

The pay range for this role is: $92,395.00-$236,600. The listed salary range represents ENGIE’s good faith estimate for this position and represents the minimum and maximum for new hire salaries across all U.S. locations.  An employee’s rate of pay within the range is determined by their work location, and additional factors, including qualifications, relevant experience, and demonstrated performance over time. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.  Please keep in mind that the range stated above is the full base salary range for the role.  Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.  This position is eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package and certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and commissions.
