The Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) business unit is the fully integrated trading arm of the ENGIE Group. GEMS teams manage a large and highly diversified energy portfolio, including electricity, natural gas, biomass, LNG and other fuels, CO2 and environmental products, and provide a range of trading risk management solutions to all types of market participants in Europe, Asia and in the US. GEMS manages the B2B supply business within ENGIE, including supply contracts and Power Purchase Agreements.

 

The Algorithmic Power Trading Advisor leads the development the databases, data platforms and data connections that power our models, algorithms and tools.

 

This position is located in Houston, TX and reports to Vice President, Gas and Power Trading.

What you’ll do:

Responsibilities

  • Lead and articulate the development of our systems with the different involved teams (e.g., IT, Data office, Commercial Operations)
  • Select and negotiate with vendors that provide data sources, new forecasts, or market insights
  • Develop and ensure integration of the data sources (external and internal) with our data platforms and trading tools
  • Develop in-house forecast methodologies, systems, and tools, producing more accurate scenarios of prices (energy, ancillaries, RECs, etc.) and renewable production
  • Improve and refine tracking and reporting tools

KPI’s

  • Consistency and data quality of databases and connections
  • Accuracy of forecasts
  • Timely delivery of milestones of our projects
  • P&L Produced

What you bring:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in a relevant area (Engineering, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, …) preferred
  • A minimum five (5) years of experience in a similar or related role.
  • A minimum seven (7) years of work experience required
  • Strong Data Science skills (especially applied statistics, data analysis, and  machine learning).
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, VBA, Power BI.
  • Market structure, products, and protocols.
  • Familiarity with using and connecting with tools and data sources reference the industry (e.g., YesEnergy, WSI, Genscape, etc.)

  • Salary Range: $130,830 - $218,505, annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
