At ENGIE, great adventures always start with a simple "hello" and the desire to take action for tomorrow. If, like us, you strongly believe the energy transition holds opportunities for you and for everyone, then look no further, you belong with us!
Our goal is to be the best energy transition utility, and we have an ambition to reach net zero emissions by 2045. In Australia, this includes flexible power generation, energy retail services for homes and businesses, advanced energy management solutions, and a growing portfolio of future-focused projects — from hydrogen and battery storage to wind and solar developments.

About the Role
We’re seeking a strategic and experienced Head of Financial Control to lead the centralised financial accounting function across ENGIE’s Australian businesses. This pivotal role supports our consolidated operations and drives self-service capabilities through the development and enhancement of finance systems. You’ll also play a key leadership role in the transition to SAP S/4HANA as part of ENGIE’s global deployment strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate ledger handover to management reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation and lodgement of statutory accounts and financial reporting for ENGIE.
  • Manage statutory audits for both ENGIE Group and local compliance requirements.
  • Ensure completion of balance sheet reconciliations and analytical reviews across all entities in scope.
  • Collaborate with FP&A to support monthly management reporting and deliverables.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance, including drafting and reviewing position papers.
  • Lead transaction processing (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, settlements) to optimise working capital and cash flow.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Drive the development, governance, and enhancement of finance systems to support automation and self-service capabilities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for financial accounting during the SAP S/4HANA transition.

People Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team aligned with ENGIE’s values.
  • Oversee recruitment, coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.

About You

  • CA or CPA qualified, with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive leadership experience, ideally in the energy sector, in senior finance roles across complex, multinational energy sector environments.
  • Strong technical expertise in IFRS, internal controls, and ERP systems (including SAP), with hands-on experience in system implementation.
  • Proven ability to engage, influence, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive and strategic mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
