What You Can Expect

As a Congestion Trader at ENGIE Energy Marketing North America  based in the Galleria area of Houston, you will report to the Director of Congestion Trading. You will be responsible for the deployment of nodal trading strategies. Independent System Operator’s (ISO’s) include: Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) or Pennsylvania-New Jersey Interconnection (PJM).

 

  • You will deploy fundamental-based nodal trading strategies using ISO congestion products across various periods in the relevant ISO
  • You will develop a systematic approach to fundamental analytics and trade execution
  • You will communicate and demonstrate improvements in the performance benchmarks per the need of the organization
  • You will act as the central resource of the firm regarding the relevant ISO information, working with various groups in the organization
  • You will communicate the decisions and drivers behind your trades in a timely manner and per the need of the organization
  • You comply with the ISO and company protocols
  • You will develop opportunities to generate new revenue streams such as deal flows and virtual markets
  • You will support asset managers with ISO fundamental views/ analyses
  • You will participate in ISO meetings as appropriate, and assess and communicate commercial impacts to the team

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in which you completed courses in finance, economics, engineering, mathematics or similar discipline
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of three (3) years in a congestion trading role in  ERCOT or PJM
  • You possess a strong working knowledge of power network topology
  • You are a disciplined risk manager
  • You are a highly analytical thinker and understanding of probability and risks
  • You must enjoy problem solving and creating trading opportunities
  • You are a clear and effective communicator
  • You have and display a willingness to engage in dialogue and debate with colleagues
  • You can work autonomously and be flexible
  • You have experience with Day-Ahead Locational Market Clearing Prices Analyzer (Dayzer), PLEXOS or similar software
  • You are Proficient in Excel, VB, Python, R, Structured Query Language (SQL)

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy

Compensation

Salary Range: $137,550.00 – $229,215.00 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
