What You Can Expect

As a Power Congestion Junior Trader, you will report to Director Congestion Trading and you will be responsible for congestion trading in ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) ISO (Independent System Operator).  

 

The goal of the section is to explain every day activities of someone who works in this role.  Convey the day-to-day impact and responsibilities of this position within the business unit they will join.

 

  • Trade Congestion Revenue Rights (CRR) in ERCOT ISO across various periods
  • Systematic approach to fundamental analytics and trade execution
  • Act as the central resource on the firm regarding regional ISO information, working with various groups in the organization
  • Communicate drivers of Day Ahead and Real Time congestion market outcomes based on macro-fundamentals (supply, demand, renewables) and mirco-fundamentals (specific transmission and generation outage impacts, bids, facility limits)
  • Comply with the ISO and company protocols
  • Develop opportunities to generate new revenue streams such as deal flows and virtual markets
  • Support asset managers with ISO fundamental views/ analyses
  • Participate in ISO meetings as appropriate, assess and communicate commercial impacts
  • Develop, track and communicate performance benchmarks

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A four-year degree in which you completed courses in Engineering/Business/Finance or other relevant disciplines
  • Two years of trading experience in Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) markets
  • Strong analytical skills with congestion trading experience
  • Strong understanding of the powerflow fundaments such as shift factors, line-outage distribution factors and contingency analysis concepts
  • Strong working knowledge of fundamentals of ERCOT transmission grid
  • Clear and effective communicator
  • Willingness to engage in dialogue and debate with colleagues
  • Proficient in SQL and VB or Python
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy

 

Additional Details

This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy; 4 days in office

Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies;

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $113,900 – $174,570 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. 

 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
