What You Can Expect

As our Power Settlements Advisor, you will be responsible for the estimation and reconciliation of monthly gross margin for the assigned scope. Additionally within the assigned scope, the advisor is responsible for reconciliation of ISO settlement costs and customer invoice data, maintenance of index/pass-through billing determinants, escalation of market settlement issues, and closely working with the Settlement Director and Accounting to ensure our financial statements and balance sheet accurately reflect. This position is based in Houston, TX, and reports to the Power Settlements Director.

 

  • Prepare the month end Gross Margin Estimate for assigned scope, communicate to GBS Accounting for booking, and ensure entries are correct in the financial and accounting systems
  • Prepare monthly revenue & COGS variance analyses (estimates vs. actuals), including price and volume analyses and others as required
  • Provide reporting and analysis to management and stakeholders on the monthly gross reconciliation. Explain variances, propose solutions/actions, and follow-up on agreed remediations or enhancements
  • Detect and follow-up customer invoicing issues
  • Detect and follow-up customer usage and revenue forecasting issues
  • Maintain (and create, as needed) of market index or pass-through product billing determinant price curves
  • Work closely with Operations Billing team to ensure accurate invoicing of customers on index or pass-through products
  • Track, analyze, and report on index and pass-through product margin impacts and long-term neutrality
  • Validate ISO invoices; reconcile charges and/or data to our internal systems, including clarifying or disputing invoices with the ISOs or counterparties if warranted
  • Prepare actual revenue and COGS results and communicate to GBS Accounting to facilitate calendarized GL entries
  • Work closely with IT to support forecast quantity and revenue reliability and data integrity
  • Work closely with Energy Management Settlement team on the ISO settlement process
  • Work closely with GBS Accounting for Energy Management on the wholesale counterparty settlement process
  • Work closely with Portfolio Management, Pricing, Operations, IT, and vendors to ensure accurate system data, reliable processes, and well-coordinated and complimentary business processes
  • Provide cross-functional support to peers and departments to develop best-in-class end-to-end delivery processes
  • Provide access to settlements data in a user friendly manner for all stakeholders
  • Maintain ISO and market knowledge and stay apprised of regulatory issues

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business. In lieu of a degree, you have a combination of years of progressive, hands-on experience in power settlements, financial operations, and accounting processes, with a strong background in ISO market settlements, gross margin reconciliation, and data analysis to support accurate financial reporting
  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in retail or wholesale power
  • You have a strong background in retail settlements, portfolio management, margin analysis, or financial analysis
  • You are knowledgeable in ISO and wholesale trade settlements, with the ability to interpret and reconcile complex market data
  • You have experience working in deadline-driven environments, demonstrating strong organization and follow-up skills
  • You are an independent thinker with excellent verbal and written communication skills, confident in presenting and defending your work
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have working knowledge of MS SQL, Oracle SQL, Siebel CRM, and Lodestar LPSS

Compensation

Salary Range: $99,000 – $151,800 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. 

 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
