What You Can Expect

As our Sales Director, ERCOT, you will lead the development and execution of ENGIE’s regional sales strategy, driving profitable growth through a team of 7–9 sales professionals focused on Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers and Channel Partner relationships across Texas.

The Sales Director provides strategic leadership, market direction, and sales management to achieve regional sales, margin, customer acquisition, and retention objectives. Through strong people leadership, market expertise, and cross-functional collaboration, you will ensure the team delivers exceptional customer outcomes, expands ENGIE’s market presence, and advances the organization’s broader growth and energy transition objectives.

As a key leader within the commercial organization, you will be responsible for talent development, partner engagement, sales execution, strategic account management, and operational excellence across the ERCOT market. The role requires balancing near-term commercial performance with long-term market development while fostering a culture of accountability, customer focus, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

 

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

Regional Sales Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies aligned with organizational growth objectives, profitability targets, and market expansion plans
  • Lead the ERCOT sales organization in achieving annual revenue, margin, contracted volume, customer acquisition, and retention goals
  • Evaluate market opportunities, competitive activity, customer trends, and economic factors to identify new growth opportunities.
  • Translate corporate objectives into actionable sales plans, resource allocation strategies, and performance expectations.
  • Drive market penetration across targeted segments, industries, and geographic territories within ERCOT
  • Represent ENGIE in key customer, broker, consultant, and industry engagements throughout the region

 

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, coach, develop, and motivate a team of 7 to 9 sales professionals to maximize individual and team performance
  • Establish clear performance objectives and accountability measures aligned with organizational goals
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and development planning activities
  • Identify skill gaps and create targeted development plans to improve sales effectiveness and career progression
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain top sales talent while supporting succession planning initiatives
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on execution, accountability, teamwork, and customer success

 

 

Sales Execution & Commercial Performance

  • Ensure consistent execution of prospecting, pipeline generation, opportunity management, account planning, and sales closing activities
  • Monitor pipeline health, forecast accuracy, conversion rates, and sales productivity across the team.
  • Provide support and executive oversight for strategic, multi-site, enterprise, and high-value customer opportunities
  • Assist sales representatives in developing commercial strategies, negotiating contracts, and overcoming obstacles in complex sales cycles
  • Ensure disciplined use of CRM tools, sales processes, and forecasting methodologies
  • Drive continuous improvement in sales effectiveness and customer acquisition performance

 

Broker, Consultant & Channel Partner Management

  • Develop and strengthen strategic relationships with key brokers, consultants, aggregators, and channel partners throughout ERCOT
  • Assign broker relationships across the team based on market coverage strategies, individual strengths, and business opportunities
  • Ensure effective Partner Account Planning and execution across all assigned channel relationships
  • Identify market expansion opportunities through strategic channel partnerships
  • Serve as an executive sponsor for key broker and channel partner relationships

 

Strategic Customer Relationship Management

  • Support the development of executive-level customer relationships across strategic and enterprise accounts
  • Assist teams in managing complex customer negotiations, renewals, escalations, and strategic growth opportunities
  • Ensure customers receive exceptional service throughout the sales and onboarding life cycle
  • Drive customer retention, expansion, and long-term account profitability
  • Promote cross-selling and upselling opportunities across ENGIE's portfolio of energy and sustainability solutions

 

Market Intelligence & Commercial Innovation

  • Maintain deep knowledge of ERCOT market dynamics, competitive activity, pricing trends, regulatory developments, and customer buying behaviors
  • Partner closely with Supply and Pricing teams to provide market intelligence and customer feedback that enhances competitiveness
  • Identify emerging market trends and recommend strategic initiatives to strengthen ENGIE's market position
  • Contribute to new product development, commercialization efforts, and sustainability solution growth initiatives
  • Support customer education regarding energy transition, renewable energy, sustainability, and decarbonization strategies

 

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with Supply, Pricing, Risk, Credit, Legal, Operations, Customer Experience, Marketing, Business Controls, and Regulatory Affairs teams
  • Influence internal stakeholders to support commercial objectives and customer success
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to resolve customer issues and support major commercial initiatives
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration across business functions

 

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all team members operate in accordance with ENGIE ethics, compliance requirements, commercial approval processes, and risk management frameworks
  • Maintain accountability for forecast accuracy, CRM compliance, and sales reporting
  • Ensure appropriate documentation, governance approvals, and commercial controls are maintained
  • Support audits, governance reviews, and compliance activities as required

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • You hold a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • A minimum ten (10) years of professional experience in retail energy sales, business development, account management, supply, marketing, or related commercial functions
  • A minimum three (3) years of sales leadership experience managing direct and/or indirect sales teams within the retail energy industry
  • You are a strategic, results-driven sales leader with a strong commercial mindset and a proven ability to drive regional revenue, margin, profitability, customer acquisition, retention, and market growth
  • You have proven experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing sales teams, with a focus on accountability, employee engagement, succession planning, and continuous improvement
  • You have demonstrated success managing strategic and enterprise C&I customers, complex commercial negotiations, broker and consultant relationships, channel partners, and cross-functional sales initiatives
  • You are knowledgeable in the ERCOT retail electricity market, commercial energy solutions, customer procurement strategies, and market development, with experience in renewable energy, sustainability, demand response, or structured energy solutions 
  • You have strong business acumen and operational expertise, including regional sales planning, forecasting, pipeline management, CRM utilization, performance reporting, budget and resource management, and commercial governance
  • You are an effective communicator and collaborative business partner who can influence executive stakeholders, build long-term customer and partner relationships, manage competing priorities, demonstrate sound judgment and integrity, and champion ENGIE’s culture and energy transition objective

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy, allowing for a mix of remote work and in-office presence
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 15% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record for travel and car rentals
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $135,000 – $206,885 USD annually

 

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. 

 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
