What You Can Expect

As a Real-Time Optimization II, you will be part of a collaborative team responsible for executing real-time dispatch strategies and supporting the 24/7 monitoring and management of a portfolio of ENGIE and third-party-owned generation assets. This role involves the real-time purchase and sale of energy, fulfillment of ancillary service obligations, and continuous optimization for financial performance across the ERCOT and CAISO markets. This position is based in Houston, TX, and reports to the Real-Time Optimization Manage

 

  • Monitor SCADA systems, alerts, and market data to track Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) performance, operational conditions, and market positions in real time
  • Make and execute real-time market decisions that drive P&L performance, meet scheduled obligations, and align with long-term strategies, including submitting bids and offers into ISO systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO regulations by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of operational practices and integrating them into daily operations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with plant control room operators and maintain accurate logs documenting unit availability, dispatch levels, market prices, and other critical operational data

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or engineering. Alternatively, we will consider candidates with five (5) years of relevant professional experience in a technical or operations-focused role where you gained hands-on experience with systems monitoring, energy transactions, or process optimization
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the energy industry, specifically in Real-Time Operations optimizing generating assets or working directly in Power Plant Operations
  • You have strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • You are an effective communicator, both written and verbal, and can adapt quickly to changing conditions, including bidding and unit commitment strategies
  • You hold a willingness and ability to obtain NERC certification and are comfortable working 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • You are knowledgeable in real-time operations and market dynamics, supporting critical decision-making under pressure
  • You have a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Word

Compensation

Salary Range: $86,100 – $132,020 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. 

 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
