What You Can Expect
As our Portfolio Management Senior Advisor, you will be directly responsible for delivering the expected gross margin from retail contract sales, with a focus on the PJM and MISO deregulated power markets. You will manage all aspects of the P&L for your assigned retail power book, including in-depth analysis of delivery month actuals, PPAs, forward mark-to-market (MTM) adjustments, and annual budget planning.
You will identify and manage price and volume risk exposures, recommend hedge strategies, and execute trades to mitigate risk in line with portfolio objectives. Collaborating closely with other Portfolio Management team members, you will help develop forward price curves, calibrate costing assumptions, and ensure ENGIE’s competitiveness in the retail market—all while contributing to sales performance targets.
The role also requires strong cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders including Sales, Business Development, Origination, Trading, Operations, Risk Management, Marketing, and Digital teams to support ENGIE Resources’ broader business goals.
This position sits in Houston, TX reporting to the Director, Portfolio Management
- Execute Trades & Manage Risk: Trade financial and physical products (Energy, Capacity, RECs, FTRs, PPAs, derivatives) and manage price/volume risk for retail load contracts (fixed, index, hybrid)
- Market Analysis & Strategy: Develop and calibrate forward price curves; conduct in-depth analysis on market fundamentals, regulatory impacts, cost components, and risk exposures to optimize portfolio profitability
- Reporting & Reconciliation: Produce and reconcile daily MTM and NOP reports; monitor portfolio P&L from budget to final settlement; aggregate revenue/cost data for margin tracking
- Forecasting & Scheduling: Validate load forecasts, oversee day-ahead bidding, and ensure demand schedules align with retail operations
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Trading, Operations, and Risk to review revenue, settlements, and inform pricing and product strategies
- Stakeholder Engagement & Support: Support sales calls, prepare market insights presentations, and contribute to system enhancements and new product development
What You’ll Bring
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Business, Economics, Engineering, Accounting, Mathematics, or Computer Science. In lieu of a degree, we will accept a combination of ten (10) years of professional experience and other education/certification experience for the role
- A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in the retail power industry
- You have deep experience in retail power portfolio management, with expertise in full-requirements cost components particularly in PJM and MISO markets
- You are knowledgeable in energy market fundamentals, pricing methodologies, and hedging strategies to manage shape and swing risk
- You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional teams
- You are proficient in MS Excel and experienced with data tools such as VBA, SQL, and Microsoft Power BI for managing and analyzing large datasets
- You have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to plan and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- You are a clear communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills, and can think critically and logically under pressure
Additional Details
- This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy hybrid work schedule of both in-office and work-from-home days

Compensation
Salary Range: $131,000 – $200,790 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
