What You Can Expect

As our Software Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience with C, C++, C#, and Python programming, embedded systems, and design validation. You will work in a fast-paced environment developing software tools for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, and effective management of competing priorities.

 

This internship opportunity is based in Houston, TX, and spans three months, from January 5, 2026 to May 29, 2026. You will report to the Vice President, CTO  

 

  • Develop and test software for using C/C++/C#
  • Collaborate with Software, Electrical and Test Engineers
  • Write technical documentation for software and electronic hardware systems
  • Follow software quality assurance practices
  • Assist with estimating assignments

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, electrical, software engineering, or a related field
  • You have a foundational understanding of programming concepts and an interest in embedded systems and software development
  • You will gain the opportunity to develop your ability to read and write programs in C, C++, and C#
  • You will get exposure to scripting languages such as PERL, Python, or similar tools used in automation and testing
  • You will get exposure to software configuration management systems, including tools like Subversion
  • You will get exposure to hardware test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • You will gain the opportunity to work with embedded microprocessors and apply software debugging techniques
  • You will have the opportunity to work independently on assigned projects and contribute to hands-on engineering tasks

 

Additional Details

  • The intern should be available to work 20–30 hours per week, with two in-office days per week for the part-time (20-hour) schedule
  • Interns must be enrolled students in good standing at the commencement of the intern semester
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

Compensation

Hourly Range:  $23.50 - $39.50 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
