What You Can Expect

As an IT Enterprise Architect (Senior Advisor) at ENGIE North America, you will play a critical role in designing and guiding the future-state architecture across our application landscape. Supporting the Solutions Delivery team, you will lead architectural planning efforts for systems hosted in Microsoft Azure, AWS, and on-premise environments—ensuring performance, scalability, and modernization of both legacy and cloud-based platforms. This role serves as a strategic advisor to cross-functional teams, translating complex business needs into sustainable, long-term technical solutions that drive ENGIE’s digital transformation forward.

Your typical day begins with collaborating in Agile sprint teams, participating in design sessions, reviewing architectural impacts of new development efforts, and supporting teams through architectural guidance and technical leadership. You’ll work hands-on with system architecture diagrams, tools like Azure DevOps, and interface regularly with a team of software engineers, UX designers, data architects, and technical architects. Over time, you will also assume formal people leadership responsibilities, with up to three direct reports. Your work will influence critical business applications and ensure continuity, optimization, and innovation across ENGIE's digital ecosystem.

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of ENGIE Resources’, ENGIE North America’s, and ENGIE Group’s business goals by regularly engaging with business and IT stakeholders to share insights and align on needs
  • Act as a strategic thought leader in the innovative application of technology to support business outcomes and the energy transition
  • Lead and develop a high-performing architecture team that includes design, technical, and data architects, providing mentorship, training, and career development
  • Identify opportunities to unlock business value by implementing new digital solutions or modernizing existing ones across cloud, legacy, and hybrid environments
  • Stay current with trends in the energy and technology sectors and share insights with internal teams through both formal and informal knowledge-sharing practices
  • Develop and communicate architectural policies, roadmaps, standards, and governance processes that guide system development and platform evolution
  • Manage exceptions to architectural standards and ensure enterprise-level consistency in design principles and technology use
  • Collaborate with functional leaders to build product roadmaps and create future-state visions for system architecture and business processes
  • Design holistic solutions that integrate structural, process, and technological changes, supporting business needs through comprehensive analysis and recommendation of options
  • Prioritize IT investments and backlog initiatives based on business value, impact, and strategic alignment
  • Provide architecture oversight and quality assurance for key projects, coaching teams on delivery methodologies such as Agile, DevOps, and test-driven development (TDD)
  • Serve as a key member of the Architecture Review Council to review and validate technical designs and promote best practices
  • Work with ENGIE NA’s broader Enterprise Architecture team to ensure alignment with enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Partner with senior leadership to influence budget allocations and resourcing for architecture-driven initiatives
  • Foster a culture of adaptability, innovation, and continuous learning within the broader IT team

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of IT and business experience, including enterprise architecture, systems lifecycle management, and IT operations
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based systems architecture, Lean business process engineering, and Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
  • Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture, business re-engineering principles and processes, and basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting
  • Deep knowledge of common design patterns
  • Financial modeling and business case development using Excel
  • Modeling tools such as Lucid chart and/or Visio
  • Active involvement in the technology community
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style
  • Strong leadership skills and a passion for technology
  • Ability to quickly work into new tasks and accommodate with new circumstances in a dynamic environment
  • Be seen as an expert, and respected by peers, clients, and within industry
