What You Can Expect

As the Health and Safety Sr. Advisor you will assist in the development and implementation of a Health and Safety  Management System that encompass standards of excellence, programs, policies, procedures, and processes for ENGIE’s Global Business Unit  Renewable & Flex Power North America. Your focus will be on supporting the Business Unit’s project development, construction, and operational activities. You will be responsible for partnering with all staff to influence an organizational culture that leads to proactive safety culture.

 

In this role your key responsibilities everyday will be:

  • Support the development and evolution of a H&S strategic plan in collaboration with leadership and H&S staff throughout ENGIE North America.  The plan will address working environments in Renewables, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction, and operational
  • Support HS database management and provide required monthly statistical reports to Renewable & Flex Power North America corporate. Tracks the performance and progress of action plans, programs and processes, including corrective action plans. Helps produce leading indicators and proactive trending.
  • Conduct regular onsite safety training,, compliance audits, incident investigations, root cause analysis, safety cultural assessments, monthly reports, regular interactions with our Partners.
  • As directed, facilitates  serious incident investigations, including all HiPo’s, SIF’s.  Applies Root Cause Failure Analysis  tools when facilitating investigations to determine causal factors.  Works with the proper teams to identigy countermeasures to prevent recurrence and eliminate deviations from the standard
  • Provides guidance and acts as a role model for HS full time professionals, site managers, front line supervisors and office staff in the effective implementation processes and procedures
  • Supports design of  Renewable & Flex Power North America H&S Management System. Researches new or revised OSHA/OSH regulatory requirements.  Anticipates changes and updates the processes and procedures as required with follow on training for effective implementation Implements lessons learned
  • Strong, proven track record of creating positive rapport with field personnel and office staff.  Supports and implements a communication strategy that promotes leadership engagement between management, front line supervisors, , technicians / craft personnel and contractors to create a culture where HS is a principle and not a priority
  • Support, understand and implement ISN requirements across all levels of the organization
  • Support implementation of observation programs that focus on pre-job/task activities. Ensures the Job Safety Plan process permeates down to the granularity of the specific task assigned. Is able to review and coach on JSP creation.
  • Benchmark the current state of safe work procedures against a “Best in Class” standard. Orchestrates plans to close identified gaps in coordination with  Renewable & Flex Power North America H&S team
  • Manage and review gap analysis of contractor safety plans and procedures to ensure their standard is equal or more stringent than  Renewable & Flex Power North America’s safety criteria as stipulated in the procurement Terms & Conditions. Audits to ensure contractor H&S contractual obligations are understood and respected
  • Understand contract requirements and how they are implemented.
  • Participate in process safety assessments on projects throughout the design phase
  • Develop and implement safe work management processes and programs including risk assessment, Lock-Out-Tag-Out and Permit to Work.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum Associates Degree in Safety Management, with a minimum Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)  certification, preferred Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in construction and operational phases, utility scale generation or industrial or ten (10) years experience in lieu of an associate’s degree
  • Subject matter expert in OSHA (US) CFR 29 Parts 1910 / 1926
  • Exhibit mastery of root cause failure analysis tools and their application for recordable events, HiPo’s Lost Time Accidents
  • Exhibits mastery of HOP
  • Possess superior verbal, written, interpersonal, public speaking, facilitation and presentation communication skills when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with behavioral science and the psychology behind influencing change
  • Experience in commercial and industrial construction environments
  • Proficient in safety data management tools and Microsoft suite of tools.
  • Self motivated, self sufficient, thinks proactively and maintains professionalism
  • Exhibit high levels of emotional intelligence as a team leader in the creation of a desire-based vs. compliance-based safety culture
  • In-depth knowledge of the change management process
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy

 

Additional Details

  • This is a field position requiring regular travel to operating assets and active construction projects.
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 80% of the time and with the need for  overnight trips within their area of responsibility
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record rental cars through ENGIE
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to weather conditions
  • The position consists of 50% work indoors and 50% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions
  • Could involve some lifting / up to 50 lbs

 

Compensation

 

Salary Range: $135,000 – $185,000 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. 

 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
