What You Can Expect

The Head of Engineering for ENGIE Energy Marketing North America (EEMNA) provides strategic technology leadership, oversees highperforming engineering teams, and ensures the delivery of secure, scalable, and reliable solutions supporting ENGIE’s North American Energy Management and Trading operations.

 

This role reports to VP of IT EEMNA and requires strong technical leadership, business understanding, and the ability to build and mature an engineering organization. The ideal candidate has significant experience supporting North American Power and Gas Trading and managing both custom and COTS applications across the trading lifecycle.

 

Technology Direction

  • Define and execute a technology vision aligned with ENGIE business objectives and EEMNA strategy.
  • Prioritize and drive initiatives that improve efficiency, resilience, and scalability.
  • Develop longterm roadmaps for trading operations, market connectivity, risk systems, and related platforms.

Technical Delivery

  • Establish and deliver key technical milestones.
  • Lead the development and operation of software solutions supporting trading and business processes.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues to maintain reliability and system availability.

Standards and Operational Maturity

  • Build a standardized, processfocused engineering culture.
  • Champion modern engineering practices, tools, and industry standards.
  • Promote metricsdriven operations using KPIs, SLAs, and delivery benchmarks.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with peers, Product Managers, Support, Cybersecurity/Complaince, Infrastructure, and Data Platform.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CIO.
  • Ensure engineering priorities align with commercial needs and regulatory requirements.

Leadership and Talent Development

  • Lead and grow highperforming engineering teams focused on excellence and accountability.
  • Mentor engineers and managers, developing succession plans and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop top technical talent.

Risk Management and Governance

  • Identify technology risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with ENGIE IT policies, cybersecurity standards, and regulatory expectations.
  • Strengthen system resilience through sound architecture, disaster recovery planning, and operational controls.

Workforce Planning

  • Define longterm staffing plans aligned with technology and business priorities.
  • Guide organizational growth to build the right mix of engineering, operational, and architectural capabilities.
  • Experience leveraging modern AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve developer productivity and code quality is a strong plus.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in which you completed courses in computer science, engineering, information technology, management information systems or any related field 
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience leading engineering or IT teams, including senior or directorlevel roles.
  • Experience supporting North American Power & Gas Trading environments.
  • Background with both custom solutions and COTS trading tools (e.g., market connectivity, ETRM platforms, analytics).
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, cloud operations, and modern engineering practices.
  • Demonstrated success developing and managing engineering teams and technical talent.
  • Strong project delivery skills with a resultsoriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders.
  • Ability to align technology decisions with commercial and operational needs.
  • Experience in energy, commodities trading, or capital markets technology.
  • Knowledge of ISO/RTO markets, trade lifecycle processes, and realtime market operations.
  • Background in data engineering, integration, or cloudnative architectures.
  • Experience working in large, global, or matrixed organizations.

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy; a minimum of 3 days working in the offer per week
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies;

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $176,900 – $271,170 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. 

 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
