What You Can Expect
As our Compliance Advisor, you will play a key role in coordinating compliance activities across GEMS B2B Supply US. In this role, you will ensure adherence to government and market obligations at the federal, state, local, and utility levels. You will support the growth and continuous improvement of the GEM US Market Compliance Program through the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, exception reporting, and training. You will also coordinate projects across the organization, lead working teams to achieve compliance goals, and perform regulatory reporting across multiple jurisdictions while maintaining strong internal controls. Additionally, you will support and coordinate the Company’s responses to requests for information from regulatory entities, ensuring timely and accurate submissions. This position can sit remotely in Chicago, IL, New York, NY or Hybrid Houston, TX reporting to the Director of Compliance.
- Collaborate with the Government & Regulatory Affairs and Legal teams, company leadership, and other stakeholders on compliance matters
- Maintain awareness of current and pending statutes, regulations, ordinances, and market rules relevant to a retail energy marketer and the company’s interests.
- Document compliance requirements in a centralized, accessible, and well-organized manner to facilitate internal compliance efforts
- Provide careful analysis and guidance on compliance matters affecting the company
- Support internal and industry efforts to develop legislative, regulatory, or utility rule proposals, case-studies, and best practices
- Advise internal stakeholders and promote awareness of current and future compliance obligations through effective engagement strategies
- Support company compliance effectiveness through measurement, assessment, gap analysis, and transparent reporting
- Investigate compliance gaps when surfaced via internal or external channels, collaborating with Legal and others to respond as appropriate
- Educate operation personnel on market changes and new market entry opportunities to improve the awareness and understanding of the retail energy business across functional teams
- Collect and analyze key facts in utility/market to assist upper management with process improvements for better customer service
- Develop internal documentation to demonstrate a robust internal compliance program to federal and state regulators
- Ensure data governance policies and procedures comply with internal/external regulation
What You’ll Bring
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics. In lieu of a degree, we will consider ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in the energy industry, where you gained hands-on expertise in compliance, regulatory filings, or related business operation
- A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience, in the energy industry experience with previous experience in regulatory filings
- You have strong expertise in compliance, with experience working across multiple markets and familiarity with both state Public Utility Commission (PUC) and Independent System Operator (ISO) rules.
- You are knowledgeable about the retail energy business, regulatory obligations, and operations processes, and you can translate complex compliance requirements into practical solutions.
- You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, and adapt your message to diverse audiences.
- You are a creative problem solver with intellectual curiosity, able to quickly synthesize new information, apply it practically, and promote the highest ethical standards in your work
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other analytical tools, managing a diverse workload in a self-directed environment under strict deadlines

Compensation
Salary Range: $99,000 – $158,400 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
