What You Can Expect
As the Commissions Manager, you will lead ENGIE’s broker commission function and oversee the accurate, timely, and controlled delivery of commission payments. You will establish priorities for the commissions team, manage monthly payment cycles and complex exceptions, and ensure transactions are properly validated, approved, documented, reconciled, and recorded. You will partner with Sales, Accounting, Finance, Billing, Operations, IT, and external software vendors to resolve issues, manage financial risk, support audits, and improve the systems and processes supporting broker commissions. You will report to the Director of Commissions and Cash Applications and help build a scalable commission operating model aligned with business objectives.
- Lead the broker commissions team, establish priorities and service expectations, allocate work, and monitor performance.
- Own the end-to-end monthly commission payment cycle, including scheduled, out-of-cycle, expedited, bonus, and repayment transactions.
- Provide subject-matter leadership for commission calculations, payment plans, broker statements, true-ups, clawbacks, net-negative balances, and exception handling.
- Direct the investigation and resolution of complex commission discrepancies in partnership with internal teams and external vendors.
- Establish and monitor reconciliations, variance reports, control reports, performance indicators, and broker financial-position analyses.
- Lead readiness activities for system enhancements, data migrations, product changes, and future-state commission processes.
- Review commission exception requests based on financial exposure, operational feasibility, documentation, policy, system constraints, and delegated authority.
- Maintain complete approvals, supporting documentation, procedures, decision rationale, and audit evidence.
- Hire, coach, develop, and evaluate team members while supporting development and succession planning.
- Lead process improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, scalability, internal controls, and stakeholder service.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field required; equivalent combinations of education, training, relevant experience, and demonstrated expertise may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in commissions, finance operations, sales operations, accounting, billing, retail energy, or a related field.
- At least two years of direct or functional leadership experience.
- Experience leading accountable, service-oriented teams and managing work priorities, deadlines, and capacity.
- Knowledge of broker commission payment structures, retail energy contracts, billing data, payment timing, true-ups, clawbacks, net-negative balances, and related accounting and control considerations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills, including formulas, pivot tables, reconciliations, reporting, and macros.
- Experience using SQL, Power BI, SAP, or commission management systems is beneficial.
- Experience interpreting and applying approval requirements, internal controls, segregation-of-duties standards, documentation requirements, and audit procedures.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and delivering measurable improvements in accuracy, cycle time, controls, operational efficiency, or stakeholder service.
- Ability to identify root causes, assess financial and operational risk, make sound decisions, and translate findings into practical action plans.
- Ability to communicate complex commission, financial, or system-related issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong planning, delegation, documentation, prioritization, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with Sales, Finance, Accounting, Billing, Operations, IT, vendors, and business leaders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Compensation
Salary Range: $102,000 – $156,400 USD annually
