What You Can Expect

As our Business Performance Advisor, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how the B2B Supply platform measures and achieves success. In this role, you’ll collaborate with departments across B2B Supply and partner with corporate functions such as Credit, Accounting, and Finance to design and refine performance and financial indicators that drive smarter decisions. You’ll advise leadership on improvement levers, identify margin opportunities, and enhance forecasting accuracy, all while driving initiatives that strengthen bottom-line results and earnings predictability. In this role, you will bring not only strong technical expertise in data modeling and performance measurement but also the curiosity and problem-solving mindset needed to uncover deeper insights. You will analyze trends, challenge assumptions, and identify opportunities that deliver meaningful business impact. This is a high-visibility, high-impact position where your insights and leadership will directly shape ENGIE’s performance, influence strategic decisions, and contribute to the company’s long-term growth.

This position will sit in Houston, TX and remote to the Director, Business Performance.

  • Advise the Business Performance team to further its goal of reducing gross margin variance and minimizing prior period adjustments across a retail energy portfolio that generates $~300M USD in gross margin per annum
  • Contribute to the forecasting and reporting of delivered energy quantities, revenues, costs of goods sold, operating expenses, capital expenditures, and other key operational, performance, and financial measurements
  • Contribute to the assessment and recommendation of key operational and performance indicators and operational controls to enhance the overall performance control framework of the B2B Supply business platform
  • Contribute to the analysis and interpretation of a broad range of data from internal and external systems to develop actionable insights
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of reporting that can be consumed by Group, Global Business Units, B2B Supply Leadership Team, and departmental audiences
  • Contribute to the review of ISO and wholesale counterparty settlements data, wholesale market data, costing models, hedging strategies, and hedging effectiveness to reduce variance in forecasted versus actualized costs of goods sold
  • Contribute to the review of customer energy usage forecast accuracy to drive transparency and improvement, reduce wholesale market exposure, and reduce usage driven prior period adjustments
  • Collaborate and motivate effectively across a variety of functional teams and departments including but not limited to Sales, Load Forecasting, Pricing, Portfolio Management, Operations, Billing, Settlements, and corporate Finance and Credit functions

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline. In lieu of a degree, we will also consider candidates with at least ten (10) years of progressive, hands-on experience where you have demonstrated measurable expertise in forecasting, reporting, and data-driven analysis. In either case, you bring a proven ability to translate complex data sets into meaningful insights, identify and solve business problems with creativity and precision, and deliver actionable recommendations that support organizational decision-making
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in retail energy sector, demonstrating expertise in market structures, pricing, forecasting, and portfolio management
  • You are a highly motivated, intellectually curious self-starter who can advise a data-driven, results-focused team while making key individual contributions under demanding time constraints
  • You have excellent judgment, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to synthesize complex ideas and large data sets into clear, audience-appropriate insights, both orally and written
  • You are skilled at collaborating across functions, motivating teams, and structuring and presenting information in ways that drive action and alignment
  • You have advanced technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel with VBA, Power Query/M, PowerPivot/DAX, and PowerPoint), as well as hands-on experience with BI tools such as Power BI
  • You are knowledgeable in querying and manipulating data with T/SQL and PL/SQL, and familiar with other analytic toolsets such as Python for deeper problem-solving and data analysis
