About This Evergreen Posting
ENGIE North America is growing as we continue to lead the energy transition. We are looking to network with talented accounting professionals for future opportunities at our Houston TX Headquarters. We are seeking experienced professionals across multiple levels, including Accountant II, Senior Accountant, and Accounting Advisor roles. This is an evergreen posting and is not tied to a specific opening. It is intended to build a pipeline of qualified candidates for future accounting opportunities as business needs are identified.
Potential opportunities may support ENGIE North America’s corporate, renewable, retail energy, supply, settlement, and operational accounting teams. A member of our Talent Acquisition team may connect with qualified candidates to learn more about their background and interest. Formal hiring will occur through a separate approved requisition and job posting when a specific opportunity becomes available.

What You Can Expect
As an accounting professional at ENGIE, you may support general ledger accounting, financial reporting, close activities, reconciliations, variance analysis, audit readiness, and business partnership for entities in development, operational, renewable, retail energy, supply, or corporate accounting environments. Depending on the level and business area, responsibilities may include:
- Perform monthly and annual close activities for assigned entities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and management reporting
- Prepare general ledger accounting, monthly operating reports, cash flow monitoring, and financial reporting packages in accordance with company policies and applicable reporting standards
- Analyze financial results, gross margin activity, balance sheet accounts, and operational variances, providing clear explanations and recommendations to management and business partners
- Partner with FP&A, Business Control, Supply, Settlement, Billing, Operations, Partnership Management, and other cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and support accurate reporting
- Support accounting and reporting for renewable, supply, retail energy, settlement, intercompany, and affiliate activity, including utility invoices, ISO settlements, Renewable Energy Credits, Green-e inventory, and related AR/AP impacts as applicable
- Record and reconcile cash activity, revenue, expenses, margin recognition, intercompany balances, and energy transaction accruals
- Populate consolidation or reporting systems and prepare financial schedules, audit support, and required documentation for internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain strong internal controls, document evidence of execution, and support internal and external audit requests
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, close efficiency, workflow coordination, and data quality
- Support budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, ad hoc projects, and complex accounting topics as needed
- Collaborate across teams, cross-train with colleagues, and provide backup support appropriate to the level of the role
- Comply with all ENGIE North America policies, procedures, ethics standards, and safety requirements
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Relevant accounting experience in financial reporting, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, audit support, close processes, or a related accounting function
- CPA certification, active pursuit of CPA certification, or interest in continued professional development is preferred and may be required for certain levels or roles
- Strong accounting knowledge, analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, reconciliations, variance analysis, and large data sets
- Experience with SAP, consolidation systems, reporting tools, or similar financial systems is preferred
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), U.S. GAAP, tax equity structures, renewable energy accounting, retail energy, ISO settlements, or supply accounting may be preferred depending on the opportunity
- Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams, external auditors, and business stakeholders
- Ability to plan ahead, manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and produce accurate work in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative, self-motivated approach with the ability to build strong professional relationships and support continuous improvement
Typical Level Alignment
- Accountant II: (2 or more years) Typically supports recurring accounting, close, reconciliation, reporting, and analysis activities with increasing ownership of assigned entities, accounts, or processes
- Senior Accountant: (5 or more years)Typically brings deeper accounting experience and independently manages close activities, reconciliations, reporting requirements, variance analysis, audit support, and process improvement initiatives
- Accounting Advisor: ( 7 or more years) Typically provides advanced accounting expertise, partners closely with business leaders and cross-functional teams, supports complex accounting topics, strengthens controls, and may serve as a backup or senior resource within the accounting function
