What You Can Expect
As our Apprentice Engineer in Garden City, NY you will assist with the day-to-day safe and efficient operation of the facility as directed by the Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager or their designee.
You will:
- Complete limited administrative functions as may be required by the Maintenance Management system, supervisor, or others
- Perform general cleanup and housekeeping as directed
- Perform all duties consistent with safe work practices as is generally practiced in industrial environments and also in accordance with established Employer safety practices and regulations as delineated in the Employer Safety Manual.
- Will be required to work overtime to cover vacations, illnesses, shift vacancies, absences and other operational or maintenance requirements
- You will also perform other tasks as required to fulfill the operational and maintenance requirements of the various plants and equipment
What You’ll Bring
- High School Diploma or GED
- Enrolled or able to be enrolled in the Local 30 Operating Engineers Apprentice Engineer training program
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts (7AM-7PM or 7PM-7AM)
- Valid Driver's License
- Good mechanical comprehension
- Computer literac
- This role requires daily attendance at worksite
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record; will drive a company car
- Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- The position consists of 50% work indoors and 50% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions
- Could involve some lifting / up to 50 lbs
Compensation
Hourly Range: $19.65- $24.11 USD hourly
Your position is part of a bargaining unit represented by IUOE-Local 30. Many of the terms and conditions of your employment, including but not limited to work scheduling, wages, vacation, sick leave, and other benefits, will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement (the “CBA”) between the Company and the union.
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
